You might have to wait to try their pizza. Looks like the building was hit by a car overnight Tuesday. There are placards on the building saying it is dangerous for anyone to enter.

"Another week, another new pizza place. Element Pizza opened yesterday on a fairly desolate stretch of Third Street Downtown, so this place definitely has its work cut out in terms of building a customer base. Element is located in the building that used to house the Plugged Nickel, and I'm glad the new owners kept the feel of the building's former tenant by replicated the frontier-like font on the sign."

Is the that the spicy strawberry jam with over sized burnt meat peperoni pizza? Or is the saturation level on that picture just wacky?

A friend and I went to Element Pizza today for lunch and split two personal pizzas - the homemade sausage and the americano (pepperoni). I LOVED the flavors of the fennel sausage and the onions on the sausage pizza and I thought the pepperoni pizza was good.
$6 per pizza for the size and quality of the pizza we got felt like a great deal. The guy who took our orders was friendly and the pizzas came out quickly enough that we didn't run late on our lunch break. I'll definitely make a return trip soon to try the crimini mushroom and meat and potatoes pizzas.

My brother and sister-in-law go to church with the owners of this new place. Sadly that doesn't mean I have much more information than what has already been discussed. I do however get a chuckle when I think about whether or not they knew this building use to house a gay bar/club. Given the opinion my brother and his wife have of the LGBT community (my wife and myself included), they may or may not enjoy that information. So, I'm not sure what to make of your post. Are the owners religious conservatives?

That post, I believe was misinterpreted. I'm guessing, allycat80 is a woman. And I think she's saying that her brother and his wife do not approve of of the LGBT community, of which she and her wife are a part of.
I don't think she meant to infer anything at all about the owners, only her relatives.
That being said, I'm really enjoying Element myself. I'm lucky enough to work on the same block, so I've been there a few times now and the pizzas are really very good. I'd say they're a poor man's Harvest. And I mean that as a compliment (they're also cheaper).
They're still working on their liquor license, but every time I go in, the place is looking better and better. The service has been fast and friendly since day one, and the pizzas I had last time were even better than what I had the first time, which were already very good.
Highly recommend checking these guys out.

I had lunch here today with cr0m and it was good. The personal pies are perfect for lunch (or more than enough in my case). I had the Americano and liked it while cr0m enjoyed a mortadella. The crust was chewy and slightly charred and not at all greasy. I liked the sauce, not too sweet and lots of tomato flavor. Service was quick and friendly, two pizzas and two freshly brewed iced teas were a grand total of $16. I'll be back.

Element Pizza Adds Cocktails to Menu
By: Walker
Element Pizza is one of the newest restaurants to enter the Downtown market, having made their debut in August. This new restaurant prides itself on offering an unique style of pie that is halfway between a traditional Italian pizza and something unique and local to the Ohio ingredient landscape. Earlier this week, Element Pizza’s liquor license was approved and they’ve expanded their menu to feature cocktails to go along with their food offerings.

I've been there a few times and their pizza is delicious...the eggplant chips are pretty amazing too.

I went to Element pizza last night, after having been repeatedly told by a certain significant other that the pizza there was fantastic and that the employees were super friendly and welcoming. Both things proved to be quite true.
Shortly after Element opened, I had seen some pictures of the pizzas. They were bad pictures (no offense to whomever took them) that didn't make the pizzas look all that appetizing. So I was in no hurry to go.
Fortunately for both me and for Element pizza, I find myself in the frequent company of someone whose love of pizza knows no bounds. She promptly went, and since that time, I've been hearing a steady stream of: "Element pizza is great. I love Element pizza. When are we going to go to Element pizza?"
We finally went last night, and I hope it will be the first of many visits.
Last night we ordered three pizzas: the house sausage, the meat and potatoes, and the capicola. They were all delicious, but I have listed them just now in order of preference.
I felt that the flavors of the house sausage were perfectly balanced. What really stood out to me was how well the sweetness of the caramelized onions and the saltiness of the sausage complimented the flavors of the sauce. Everything seemed to work together perfectly.
I'd be really curious to know more about how their sauce is made actually. From what I've read so far (see front page interview), they really emphasize the work that goes into the crust. But what about the sauce? Inquiring minds want to know. It was tasty.
The Meat and Potatoes pizza was also delicious. For some reason I have a soft spot for pizza with potatoes on it. Weird, yes. But also, tasty. They use some great bacon, and it stands out. Very tasty and with a definite hammy flavor.
Not giving the Capicola short shrift; it too was tasty. Covered in lots of meat. It goes light on the cheese with just a grating of quality parmesan on top of the layers of meat. The minimal cheese worked well. The dominant flavors were the spicy saltiness of the cured meats. The only reason I rank this last among equals is that the sauce flavors were covered up a bit by the meat.
There were a few quirks about the place, not bad, just not what you might expect:
- pretty much everyone who has ever eaten pizza is accustomed to having two standard accompaniments: red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. We asked for both. They brought us both. The red pepper flakes came in the traditional shaker. But, rather than getting the weird processed parmesan cheese sprinkle stuff, they brought us out a small cup of the same quality parmesan that the grate over the pizzas. It was tasty and much appreciated. But a little unexpected.
- they're still working out the cocktail menu at little bit. They knew that it might take a while until everyone working there had the drink menu down and so last night were pricing the drinks accordingly. So I would say, at least until they've gotten the chance to practice a bit, don't hold them to the same standards you might other more experienced places. They do show promise though and a desire to craft a high end drink. Noteworthy: my old fashioned had only one or two very large ice cubes. I feel that if they're willing to pay attention to that level of detail, the cocktail menu has great promise.
To sum up this long review: great experience, great pizza. This lengthy review is in large part self-interested. I want to inspire others to go so that the place thrives. After all, I want to be able to go back myself. Hopefully frequently.

Nice review! Thanks for sharing it! ;) I've only been able to try a small sample that they provided at the recent CU Pizza Party event, but hope to stop in soon! ;)

Review: Element Pizza Bar
By: Morgan Kelley
There’s been a rise in artisan pizza options in Columbus over the past few years. First came bono pizza, followed by Yellow Brick and Harvest Pizzeria. The newest shop to open is Element Pizza Bar, located on a quiet intersection Downtown in a very unassuming building. Little exterior work was done to the building, so it may look like nothing has changed, but the interior reveals a long stainless-steel clad space with a full service bar slinging classic cocktails (Arnold Palmer, Pimm’s Cup or Cuba Libre anyone?) and ample seating for dine-in pizza patrons.
