Pesto was less Chipotle-like though without the wraps, and I think that's the hook at Piada. The ingredients at Piada seem a little more high quality and the variety is larger. The appeal is wider as well.

Pesto's menu was pretty basic pasta in a fast-casual concept. The target was college students who can't easily make pasta in their dorm rooms.

I tried Pesto once or twice and thought it was a bit generic, but I guess I wasn't the audience anyway. I'm sure it was a combination of things that put it out of business.

Piada on the other hand is delicious. I hope they have 1000 stores in 5 years all over the US with their HQ still here in Columbus. ;)

Piada is great... I regularly attend the Lane ave and the Bexley stores.. my fear is that they are growing too quickly and not able to properly manage the stores.. the Bexley store esp (and to some extent lane ave) it seems as they have started to go Light on the toppings unless I really primp and prod...

it used to be when I asked for a little mozzarella and a lot of parmesan on my bowl that I would get just that.. now i have to keep prodding to get anywhere close.. as well as the alfredo sauce.. i used to get 3 full scoops ona large pasta bowl.. and now only 2 unless again I prod.. I also notice that in busy times.. quite a bit of mixing of the ingredients on the board

this isnt a BIG deal other than it shows a bit of sloppiness on the part of the staff.. and unfortunately in an environment like that where people see the kitchen, their items, and pick what the want.. this translates to people beginning to question the restaraunt's mission and cleanliness...

I go to bexley several times per week on average.. and its usually the same lunchtime staff.. one guy remembers me and will jump in and make sure i get the cheese i want and the sauce right.. however being one that has a strong dislike for vegetables.. im not happy when I get a couple black olives or tomato cubes in my food.. something that 2 months ago NEVER occuured...

I hope they dont let these stores get away from them because the concept and the food are ingenious and delicious... as well as the atmosphere.. and the high efficiency green LED lighting and HVAC systems the stores use...

if anyone from PIADA reads this.. dont take it as a slam just as an observation.. because if tomorrow werent slice of columbus.. id be dining there for lunch....(instead it will be thursday).

I will not argue that much of downtown still depends on lunch though I think that is a chicken/egg argument. The BD Chipotle however is always busy at dinner (8pm). Perhaps the younger age of the crowd living in GV/BD is on a slightly later routine.

The Piada on Avery in Dublin is now open.. stopped by and got a steak/pasta bowl. Good stuff, it will take a few trips to find my "go to" combo like I have a Chipotle. Nice to have another option in the area.

It should be interesting to see what the Sawmill Road location looks like outside when finished...an original free standing building, not a conversion like Bexley

youre going to see that everywhere.they all try to skate on the food,you just need to speak up and ask for more.

then they just skate on the next guy.

Jersey Mike's is the worst at it,they put hardly any onions or tomatoes on their subs.
i scream every time i go there for EXTRA ONIONS & TOMATOES PLEASE.lighten up on the lettuce,im not a rabbit.

I didn't know Piada/Bravo Brio Restaurant Group was exclusively a local enterprise, that is so cool! One of those bad boys just opened at Perimeter Loop in Dublin near my workplace, this is gonna be great.

I've never had that problem with Jersey Mike's. They've always been generous with all of the veggies on my sandwiches.
Now, Subway... That's another story.
