Could have sworn I saw at least one phone jack in the house on the 2 separate walkthroughs, but nope. So I need to get a jack or two run for the alarm system and I think another for our DSL setup. Phone company is showing 1st available installation 3-4 weeks from now. I really don't want to rearrange the alarm install. Any suggestions for an installer in town that can do something quick?

Just wondering if this is your own home or a rental. If it is a rental you might want to mention it to your landlord. When I had a security system installed the landlord put in the jacks for free since the security system added value/safety to the house.

If you can match colors just do it yourself. It's pretty easy.

What Rory said. You ought to be able to install phone jack yourself. It's low-voltage tech, so there's no personal risk.

fishing anything through a wall is a time consuming and annoying process, but if you going from the exterior and just drilling into the house then it's much simpler and is something you could do.

generally speaking alarms plug into phone jacks in the basement or directly into the phone jack built into to the junction box inside the house. if the building has ever had a regular land line, there'll be a junction box somewhere inside the house you can tie into. You can also tie to another jack if necessary.
ETA: somebody at radio shack can probably show you exactly how to do it, if you can't find an answer on the web.
