has anyone played this yet? i've been considering getting a DS to play this and the Final Fantasies.
worth it?

It's got a 90 on Metacritic. Not too shabby.

But yeah, a DS is totaly worth the $130 investment. Other games I'd recommend:

I've heard amazing things about it so far. Oh, and the final fantasy remakes are unbelievable (just finishing #1 on Dawn of Souls, about to start #2).
The DS may be one of the best personal investments ever.

The fact that you can play online FOR FREE makes it the best video game platform in my book. Who doesn't want to be able to play Mario Kart online against kids in Japan while sitting on the toilet? :shock:

these are on the DS? i've only seen FF 3, 12 (coming November) and something called chocobo tales.
oh wait, were you referring to the GB Advance editions?

Yeah, the GBA versions...
I never had a GBA, so picking up games for it on the DS is bonus.

so how does that work w/ the GB advance games? do you need some sort of adapter to play them on the DS?

The DS has two ports. One on top for DS games. One on bottom for GBA games. When you boot up, you're prompted as to which game you want to play.

The GBA games stick out a bit in the DS lite. They were flush with the system in the original DS. A minor annoyance for a HUGE backwards-compatible library. :D

Also, Final Fantasy 4 for the DS (instead of throwing down the cash for the GBA version) should be here pretty soon!
I really really hope they remake 6 (3 on the SNES) for the DS.

quick update...
i was given the DS w/ Phantom Hourglass and Marki Kart for my bday. both games are lot of fun.
the gameplay in PH is awesome.
looking forward to final fantasy 12

yea man. i really like the gameplay. its pretty cool how some of the items are used throughout the game.
the game makes great use of the touch screen/microphone.

absolutely.
Everything from the cannons (I'm going to beat the high score on that mini game one of these times... I'm at 2300 pretty consistently... ), to the drawing the path for the boomerang, to the placing of bombs, etc. is REALLY well used.
And yes, the mic is genius too. Blowing out the torches and everything. I had to look NUTS on the plane yesterday.
