Does a vegan's concern for animals necessarily diminish her love for her fellow humans ? Maybe it enhances it ? Where else does this zero sum mentality come up when the status quo is challenged ? Blacks versus Whites, women versus men, rich versus poor, bicyclists versus motorists, queer versus straight, the East versus the West ?

I ate a vegan once. It didn't change my relationship with animals, which is to say I still ate them as well.
I am deeply concerned with the ethical issues surrounding the consumption of brussels sprouts. I will not consume them, and recommend the same for you.
