Hey guys, who all is doing the Pelotonia?
I'm doing it. I'll be the one looking back at Lance by the way. ;-)
If you guys want, I could create a thread for anyone that might want to donate to any of us and put our rider links in it. Thoughts?

I'll be volunteering. If they let me know where.
And you do know that Lance just got done smoking some young'uns on the TdF, right? ;)
I signed up for 50 miles. Any help with donations would be awesome!
Andrew Hall is riding:
I'll post some pictures in a bit of the riders as they came though the Groveport leg. Overall I think this is a good event and something that has a lot of potential in the future. It was great to see the turnout of riders, volunteers and spectators. Especially on an off day weather wise. That said, I do have several criticisms:
I registered to volunteer and showed up at 7 to sign in. I found the volunteer co-ordination to be lacking. I don't know if this was the case along the entire ride but Groveport was not well managed. When I initially registered, the implication was that you would be given an assignment prior to the start. This was not the case and the Groveport volunteers were simply told via email to arrive on ride day at 7 AM and sign in.
When I arrived, there was clearly too many "volunteers". It seemed like 2 things happened: organizers overestimated the minimum number of volunteers and people simply showed up without registering as a volunteer. Most of the initial set up work was easily done by 10-12 individuals while another 30 or so where left with nothing to do. Little instruction was given beyond where to place water and a brief talk on the rough time line of the day. No actual assignments were given. We were pretty much told to go sit by the road and cheer the riders on and come back later. I think things were pretty well organized as far as food, water and the like for riders. Volunteer organization could have been much better. I ended up leaving when I realized my time would be wasted given the number of bodies. For future rides (and after this one they should have a better idea) they need to have a better handle on the number of volunteers actually needed. T-Shirts need to be handed out as a volunteer checks in to distinguish from people actually registered and there to give there time and from people who just happen by. Assignments should be given in advance or at registration and some amount of detail given on those assignments.
Traffic control was another issue. I was at the turn off for the 50 mile + riders just before the 25 mile stop. A State Highway Trooper was there directing traffic but there were at least 4-5 moments of either ignorant cycling or ignorant driving that could have resulted in a pretty bad day. Future rides should either close the road off entirely during the window that the riders will be coming in or work to better inform the public and community on route location and what to expect. Signage and instructions for the riders could have been better, helping direct them on the right route.
I don't want to criticize too harshly. As I said this can be a great event. I understand the kinks of a first year thing, just wanted to pass along some improvements.
Some various photos rolling in:
Rockmastermike is stationed in Amanda Clearcreek doing radio communications. Andrew Hall flew past him at least 20 minutes ago and is towards the front of the main pack.

Sweet! Thanks for all the links!

Some pictures from the Groveport stop. The 25 mile riders continued south on Groveport Road to the recreation center right behind us and the others turned onto Richardson for the next leg.
Here comes Part 2: The Return!

Thank You "CU" crowd, participants, and all the Pelotonia organization for your inspiration. Can't wait till next year! The James is indeed world class, and the people you meet there through this journey make a huge impact.
Now if I remember correctly CatnFiddle received a new bikey from Rockmaster this year. I wonder if she can get those "stubby little legs" (her words..LOL) to do 25 miles next year?
Just lovely folks!
Just a quick note as I am knackered. I ended up with a cold thanks to Elena and our office.
That was a lot of fun. My fat ass has not been training the way it needed to this summer. I rode pretty well though. Really enjoyed it. From the POV of a rider, the support and volunteers were top notch at the way. There was an bring-me-tears level of spontaneous support - signage, impromptu rest-stops and just people out clapping and cheering on both days.
It is pretty awesome to think that 2K+ probably each got at least 10 people to support then (20K people) + 5K volunteers, businesses doing fundraising, supports. That 25K is really awesome.
It was a real treat and privilege to do this ride.
Don't forget : Support is open until Oct 31. Donate and come to the supporter party on Oct 17: Click here
A.
I just donated $40 for a worthy cause and $10 extra for using the word "knackered." 8-)
Hope I can make it down for the party!
Nice work, Andrew. Impressive to see anyone capable of riding 180 miles in such a short amount of time, good cause or no. ;)
Congrats! and great job to all that participated!
