COLUMBUS, OHIO – May 7, 2008
By now, you may have heard of Pecha Kucha. It is a Japanese phrase meaning “the sound of casual chatter.†But for a rapidly growing number of international artists, designers, and other creative types, Pecha Kucha Night is truly a phenomenon not to be missed! We’re excited to announce that the 6th volume of Pecha Kucha will be held at the Drexel Theater in Grandview.

The key to the success of Pecha Kucha nights (springing up in 160 cities around the globe since its inception in 2003 as the brainchild of Tokyo-based architecture firm, Klein Dytham), is its simplicity. Up to ten presenters each are allotted a six-minute, forty second timeframe in which they can show twenty slides, and talk for just twenty seconds about each slide. Presenters are given no further direction than to talk about what inspires their creativity. The content of these slides is as varied as those presenting them. So far, at the Columbus chapter’s previous three events, presenters have included artists, web designers, jewelry designers, entrepreneurs, graphic designers, interior designers and architects, just to name a few. The audience for Pecha Kucha Night in Columbus has grown exponentially at each successive event. The local organizers, a group of creatives who read about this international phenomenon and decided to bring it home, expect that trend to continue at Pecha Kucha Columbus Volume 6.
Those in the Columbus area interested in stepping away from the hum of their everyday lives and listening to, being inspired by, and exchanging ideas with other creative people should come on May 22nd – and bring their friends along with them!
