Peachtoberfest 2009

Friday October 2nd, 5pm Ã¢â‚¬â€œ 2am.

A sort of ironic neo-modisch interpretation of modern German stereotypes. Bring your friends and a beer stein to the alley between Viking and Dragon Fly (http://neo-vevents.com/), 247 King Ave, and celebrate the revitalization of an antiquated German holiday the Peach District way (http://thepeachdistrict.wordpress.com/).

Peachtoberfest will feature mediocre light-video dance installations, unfunny local comedians, whatever local bands we could get, a YouTube dance off, and games with prizes not worth competing for.

Dress up in Lederhosen or your best David Hasselhoff, and come to what local residents are billing as Ã¢â‚¬Å“the most ironic event of the seasonÃ¢â‚¬Â and Ã¢â‚¬Å“the place not to be seen.Ã¢â‚¬Â

Here's a question for all you English majors: ever since that "Ironic" song by Alanis Morrissette, we've been told repeatedly that what she's talking about is not irony.

Well, what is she talking about then? Is there a word for that? Is it just coincidence when there's a no smoking sign on your cigarette break? Or is it just really shitty?

More importantly, how did a bad Jay Leno monologue from 1996 get into my brain? This is worse than when I get Peabo Bryson stuck in my head.

Peachtoberfest is like a block away from my house, and sounds really fun, and I should really go to it. It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.

Irony on Wikipedia for what it is worth, I think it is ploy by control freak English teachers to say that you are wrong no matter what you say that irony is.

the word is "annoying"

when applied to anything Alanis related the modifier "very" should also be applied.

hhhhhhhhhheyyyyyy Lew. Burglar will not be playing this time. We're taking October off until the 30th, the evening of our CD release show.
However, other musical acts and djs (including a mini-rave with CDSHERMAN!) will be on hand. This is going to be a GREAT party. Trust in the Peach District.

Also, it is important to note that while some levels of spontaneity are always encouraged in any kind of creative atmosphere both Peach District events have required a great deal of careful planning from MANY people. Besides, the theme this time does, indeed, include an ironic portrayal of traditional and modern German themes. That's SO hipster, dude.

We hope everyone can come out and enjoy the peachy festivities.

I worked the CMC merch tent Saturday afternoon at ID09, and there were lots of folks buzzing about you guys and looking for recordings to buy. Kickass, man!
Oh...and we directed them all to your myspace btw. Wooot.
I'm sure I'll wander down and check out this Peach bidniss.

We're playing this Saturday night at Hal and Al's with Vug & the Stallions and the Main Street Gospel. No Cover, $1 peebers - our last show for a month.

Thanks for sharing about our "fans". Kind of cool that we're starting to get them...
