I'm starting the process of putting together a late summer (tent. scheduled for Aug. 22nd) Pabst Blue Ribbon party that would incorporate local music, art and vendors.
I need suggestions for a cool street (that is not Gay St.) we could close down or a private parking lot we could rent. Any ideas?
The easier to get to the better - high visibility would be nice. And nearby parking and/or accessibility via public transportation needs to be considered.

the spaghetti warehouse front parking lot on w. broad between the elevated train tracks is an awesome space. although they might need it that night. not sure how much business they do on a saturday night. tons o parking and on the COTA line.

In favor of J. Sweeny and the hard work that has been going on in Franklinton I like the idea of doinmg something out West. I super love the idea of partnering with FAD on urban Scrawl which is set for September @ Dodge skatepark. They already do art and music, but with increased support could really make an impact. Add a skate contest and PBR and I see a late summer classic in the making!

That is a great spot! I would vote for there or The Area near Cosi in that parking lot.
I would say Rhoads Park but I don't think alcohol is allowed.

How big a lot do you need? There's always the Mannerchor (sp?) lot on High in GV.

FYI, I have already been in talks with the Urban Scrawl folks and PBR will be helping out with that event for sure.
As for this event, I am loving the suggestions so far - I've also thought about the lot across from American Apparel on 5th and High, the empty lot next to UDF at 1st and High (haven't figured out the owner of that space yet). Anybody know who owns the parking lot at 2nd and High, next to Fireproof Storage - is that for the apartments behind it?

The parking lot in front of Kickstart which is across from the UDF at 1st and high. The lot next to the UDF I believe is owned by Jim Kirckpatrick at Midtown reality or at least he used to. If you want to do it in the short north contact John Angelo at the SNBA and he can get you any info you may need for that hood.

I second that location. Close off Parsons, there's a lot on the corner of Parsons and Oak, plenty of new businesses going in there, some nice shops, bars, food, easy access from all directions, major bus routes, etc .. that area is up-and-coming and would do well in the spotlight. Are you looking for additional sponsors?

My band played a "block party" in the lot next to Fireproof years ago, so I can attest at one point the owners were open to that kind of thing. The lot at 5th & High would be great! But I'm kinda biased on that one.

Germania (on Front Street in the Brewery District) has a huge parking lot (on the side and rear of the building) that has been used for the BMW Club's car show and I know that they are interested in events that will bring in a younger crowd (their membership is aging). Great people and I can hook you up with them if you want to PM me.
