That's an odd view from Carney that started the whole thing off; that the Grammys are for artists and not rich people. He is sadly disilliusioned if he really believes that but it sounds like the first thing that came out of his mouth when asked a really stupid question.
Grammys are all about the industry sucking its own dick. Great artists don't get Grammys until after they have made millions and millions for the industry and shitty artists win them all of the time. I'm pretty sure Carney knows that and is justing trying to have fun with the absurdity of the whole thing that he really had nothing to do with in the first place- but many stranger things have happened.
