I live around Goodale park and was curious to know if anyone who lives in the area is bothered by the level of noise that echoes through downtown when ever Patio Bar has a band.
I understand that living in an urban area comes with a certain level of noise and distractions. However, I live about a mile away, across 670 on the far side of the park.
Has anyone else been abruptly awoken due to the bands volume level?
I know that some of my neighbors have-and am wondering how far out the volume creates a disturbance.
Anyone know anything about how noise violations apply to bars vs concert venues (Promo "LC)?

As far as I know the city noise ordanance begins @ 12am so the bands shouldn't play after midnight.
Beyond that, I'm sorry to say that it's probably just the nature of the beast. If you can't beat em....join em.

In the brewery dist the ordinance is 11 on fridays and 12 on saturdays. i'm not sure if the arena dist. falls under different rules.

Apparently, I am not the only one that has noticed this... Based ont a non scientific survey here at work --You can hear the bands loud and clear throughout the arena district and the Cap--- especially when dining on Patios in that area.
--Which poses the question-- if you wanted to listen to the music and sit on a patio wouldn't you go to the Patio Bar in the first place? If you dont care for WNCI supported bands then why should you have to suffer through listening to them while trying to enjoy a meal/drinks at the venue of your choice.--

Park Street Patio Update

Owners of the newly opened Park Street Patio, just south of Victorian Village, continue to work on ways to curtail entertainment noise at night. Chris Corso and Mark Smith told memebrs at the July 19th meeting that several adjustments to the stage location and sound levels have already been made. And they pledged to continue to monitor levels by taking sound readings throughout the neighborhood. They added that construction of a sound barrier, if needed, is in their budget. If you have concerns or suggestions for Mr. Corso or Mr. Smith, please call or email the Society office.

For the record: I'm not a fan of those bands, or disruptive loud noise in general....unless I'm making it.

I live in IV around Kerr/Lincoln and I can hear the bands. However, I'm not sure if it's PSP or the LC. I can only hear it if I'm outside or it's dead quiet in my house. So not much of a bother to me.

I live in Victorian Gate and the noise from Park Street has never been an issue. The crazy loud Harleys that tear up and down High...now that's a different story

You know what with the ammount of times I have been woke up in the night by police hellicopters and sirens. I think I should voice a complaint about that. Oh and those damn trains need to go. Last I heard there is peace in the country for those that don't like city noise!

I used to live in the Brewery District directly above the now defunct "Patio" there. Talk about LOUD. It sounded like a rock band in my living room every Friday night. It really didn't bother me, I knew what I was getting into when I moved there and was usually out on a Friday night anyway. The residents in my building hate it so much they would have petition after petition to stifle the music. Even though I never signed it I think they won somehow or another because they no longer have bands or anything for that matter at the Brewery District Patio.
I now live on the other side of Goodale Park on Hubbard. I can barely here the bands at PSP or the LC on a clear night, it really doesn't bother me. However, the real noise in my neighborhood is the 2am drunks walking home. I don't really let it get to me, I know where I live and sometimes am one of these 2am drunks, but between Axis getting out at 2am and everyone else stumbling home it can get quite noisey. It's the price you have to pay if you want to live in an active area with tons of entertainment options in walking distance. If thats not your cup of tea, move to Powell.

I think Lotus owns the Patio now and they have been doing some events out there.
A few bands and a few DJ events so far this summer but they've definitely toned down the frequency of events compared to the old patio.

Yeah, we've gone with our A/C this summer and sleeping with the windows open gives you lots of police helicopter noise at night. Those things fly so low sometimes that being on the third-floor you think they're going to come crashing right through the window.
But I can't complain. I actually sort of like the helicopter sounds at night. Sirens are ok when they're off in the distance. We don't really live on much of a through street so we don't get too many sirens zooming by right outside.
That said, I'd hate to have to listen to cover bands all night if I lived near PSP. If it were good music that would be a different story. :lol:

We live far enough from Goodale that it's not usually a problem but sometimes we can hear bands (I think from the LC). For some reason, that Waterfire on the Mile thing they did was really loud.
Sometimes I think I hear gunshots really late at night. My bf keeps telling me they're fireworks or that someone dropped something heavy, but you know...

What about car traffic? The suburbs are so nice and quiet except when those damn cars drive by with their engines and tires. The train is about 1.5 mile away from my house, and if I strain really hard on a quite night i can hear it!!! We've gotta make a stand!
(ps, the ghetto bird doesn't fly around dublin, the old people stopped that one years ago.)

Well, just moved to Nursery Lane from the corner of Parsons and Whittier about 6 months back...and I miss the noise.
I can honestly say that there's very few here who's experienced the level of noise you have with:
1. At least 5 gunshots per night, various caliber, within 1 block.
2. A bus stop so close to your bedroom window that you could DAMN near walk out the window onto the bus roof. And busses talk now...telling you where they're going.
3. CONSTANT ghetto bird overhead...and I mean right overhead...and the spotlight in your window.
4. I was above a drugstore who's alarm would go off about 3 times a month when someone broke the window or tried to break in.
5. hookers. Hookers are loud, seriously...really loud.
6. Chatterbox Lounge crowd emptying out at 2 in the morning next door (see gunshots above).
After about a month, I slept like a baby through all of it though.
BTW, my old apartment is now available over there. It's basically a loft, high ceilings, 2 BR, about 1500 sq. ft., cool neighbors, and 375...yep, 375 a month. If interested, shoot me a PM.

LOL...for the right person brutha, it's be amazing. One of my friends who is a painter/photographer lives there now. He's got a photo studio, a painting studio, a large bedroom, a study nook, a living room, a good size kitchen, and a good size bathroom...all like 6 blocks from schiller park...for 375.00 a month!
For me, it was more the no yard/dog thing that was a problem more than anything (and that I took my side unfinished with no paint or carpet with the intention of renovating it).
It's also got a huge outdoor landing/deck thing on the second floor right outside.
It's really...for the price...one of the best deals in the city.
