Any suggestions for a centrally located, reasonably priced, private party room for rent? I pictured perhaps a bar basement or back room, nothing too stuffy. It should be able to accomodate at least 40 peoples, and have ample room for grinding. Keg capability and sound system are worth bonus points.

Bristol Bar could work on a slow night. What day is the party?

The party will be on either a Friday or Saturday night, so Bristol probably wouldn't work.
Definitely does not have to be upscale. Although I looked at Zeno's basement as an option, and I'd like to step it up from that. Barley's basement had an $800 food/drink minimum, so that's out.

Yeah I was going to suggest Barleys. Hmmm...

May I ask how much they were charging for Zeno's basement?

That sounds like a good idea. At first, I was thinking of the party room above Barrister Hall, but Barrister Hall is long gone...

Zeno's was $200 ($50 rental fee, and average $150 keg fee). It's not a bad deal, just a little dank. Beer was self serve, and sound system available.

I know that Ringside bar/restaurant (downtown on Pearl Alley) was renting their space out at one point. Not sure about the details...

Thanks for the plug Merc, but the Market is a little more suited for wedding receptions and luncheons than "grinding" and keggers (not that wedding receptions don't sometimes incorporate either/both).

This is hilarious. I guess it's hard to make recommendations without knowing the purpose of the event. It's actually for a 30th birthday party, and the booty grinding was thrown in for good measure.
So the North Market is too good for us?
I'll check out the space above Surly Girl and Ringside. Further suggestions are appreciated.

The gallery next to Rigsbys seems to be used for events, but again, not sure about price/availability and if a kegger would be welcomed.

I believe you are talking about Sherrie Gallery and yes they do have gatherings there on occasion. I am not sure if you can rent the place, but email addresses are available on her website.

Grinding skateboard grinding or dance grinding? Go to Ringside and talk to the owner he has another place near downtown that will accomodate you and what you want to do. Ringside is such a cool place and they have a basement.
