I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not the parking meters by the convention center are always on or if they turn off at a certain time on saturday evenings.
my friend has to drive and park there, and she said that she has to be there at 6:00, and wants to know what is up with the meters.
also, she called the convention center, and "that lady was NOT very nice." and she didn't know one way or the other.

tell her to cut a piece of orange construction paper 3" by 7" and just put it under her windshield, then park where she feels like it.

In all seriousness K, and I have no idea if I'm correct, I always thought meters were free after 6 and on weekends downtown.

that's what I thought too, but I don't want to tell my friend the wrong thing. I live with her! and there's nothing worse than fighting with someone that you have to spend 18 hours a day with for the next 9 months. lol!

I think it varies from street to street. I think the majority of them are off by 6pm on Saturdays. If not 8pm. It really just depends on what the meters say. Tell them to bring some quarters.
It might be easier for them to park a little further from the convention center. There's no guarantee they'll get a meter there. This Saturday is gallery hop, so parking and traffic might be tough.
Tell them to try to park on Fourth just north of the corner of Fourth and Goodale here. Free spots there. They can walk a block west and be at the North End of the Convention Center.
Or park on Chestnut between High & Third here. Probably eaiser to find a spot around there and walking a block north on High will put them at the southern end of the Convention Center.

Honestly, the bus will be the easiest and worry-free way to get there.
Not to mention that she can ride for free. Which is much better than worrying about whether or not she's going to get a $20 parking ticket.
MAKE HER RIDE THE BUS!
Ride with her if she's afraid to!

It was $20 for an overdue meter. You must have been ticketed for something else or multiple things.
I'd have to check, but I"m sure it was a zone thing not a meter thing.

Oh, I forgot too... The Italian Fest starts today and runs through Sunday, so that's going to put a damper on parking around the Convention Center as well.
Seriously, your roommate needs to just take the bus. It's free and a straight shot down high street. Where does she even keep her car? West campus? Wouldn't she have to take a bus to get to her car anyway? Sounds like a lot of extra hassle for no reason at all when the number two will carry her that 1.5 miles from OSU to the Convention Center.
