The men's team is getting some serious respect---they are only 4 point underdogs tonight against North Carolina. The game is being played at Madison Square Arena at 9:30 tonight, ESPN 2. This should be a great season. Most prognosticators are picking the Bucks to be fourth in the Big 11. It'll be interesting how Evan Turner performs at point guard.

The Lady Bucks are ranked 3rd in the country behind UConn and Stanford. Expect them to dominate the Big 11 and then get flattened in the third or fourth round of the NCAA tournament if past performance repeats itself.

The Bucks had an exciting comeback down the stretch but couldn't pull it off and lost by 4 points---right on the point spread. The bookies win all bets.

what a great game - i couldnt believe they hung with them. i know OSU is decent, but they are looking a lot better than they did last year!

Yeah, they almost stole a win against Carolina. Too bad they weren't hitting shots and played sloppily most of the game.

Dallas Lauderdale had a sweet alley-oop dunk. OSU has a tradition of centers that look to be about 45 years old----Lauderdale, Greg Oden, Granville Waiters, and Grady Mateen come to mind.

Once Buford starts consistently hitting some shots and Turner stops turning the ball over 10 times....LOOK OUT. Plus, PJ Hill may not be the best player on the planet, but he sure is fun to watch.

ugh they looked so crappy. nc's defense smothered them basically the entire game. however i think we can be a VERY good team if:

-someone besides turner plays point, so he can catch on the wing and create
-diebler learns to hit shots against non mid-major opponents
-buford accepts his role and quits playing like a little kid
-lauderdale becomes a force

That's a long list of "ifs," there. This game was less close than the final score indicated. I do think we have potential here, but we didn't play very well as a team and took a lot of low-percentage shots with no rebounders in position, including shots in transition. UNC's ball movement was considerably better than ours, and they got substantially better looks than we did. They were able to miss a fair number of free throws at the end and still walk away with the win.

Just finished the UCSB game on DVR. It was great to see Deibler and Lauderdale come up big.

I'd like to see Matta have Turner post up especially when smaller guards are on him. Teams are ganging up on Turner to stop him from driving.

Georgia Tech will be a big challenge. If they win that game the Bucks will face either OU or Tennessee. Then Kansas to make it to the Final Four.

And what about Buford's jump up from the seat dunks? UCSB was all over Turner, so it freed up the rest of the team to get in some great shots.

Evan Turner is gracing the front page of Sports Illustrated March 22 March Madness preview. Pretty cool.

Yeah, and Buford's reverse layup early in the game was reminisent of Dr. J. Fucking incredible.

Turner is a great player but the Bucks are by no means a team with one star and a bunch of hanger-on role players.

Sure hope Lauderdale doesn't get two quick fouls in the Georgia Tech game Sunday. Otherwise, I think the Buckeyes have a real good chance of advancing to the Sweet 16.

Buckeyes showed great poise even when they weren't hitting their shots in the first half. GT had a great gameplan for the Buckeyes but they pulled through. Looking forward to the Tennessee game. Bring it on Chism!

GT shot themselves in the foot with very poor ballhandling. We had a bout of that ourselves in the first half, but we got it together and were able to make some impressive outlet passes and transition baskets because of it. There were more than a few times when GT's attempts to do the same went wild and bounced or sailed out of bounds.

What bums me is that if we beat Tennessee (not a guarantee by any stretch, but we'll be favored) and Michigan State beats Northern Iowa (again, no guarantee, but they'll be favored), we have to play a fellow Big Ten team for a trip to the Final Four. Purdue, meanwhile, is very likely going to get trounced by Duke, considering Purdue has been magically holding on so far without Robbie Hummel. The only way we can get two Big Ten teams into the Indianapolis is for Purdue to somehow pull off a miracle against Duke and then handle the winner of the Baylor-St. Mary's game as well.

On the flip side, since my bracket is absolutely toast now anyway, I don't care if my champion pick falls now, so I'm free to root for Cornell against Kentucky. :-)

Again, Lauderdale will need to stay out of foul trouble against Tennessee. Then it's either Northern Iowa or Michigan State w/o Kalin Lucas.

Kansas ain't livin in the tourney anymore!!!

Watch out for Nothern Iowa. Very deep, very balanced tough defensive team. I think NIU will go to the Final 4.

You might be right about NIU and shouldn't be looking past Tenn but I'm skeptical that NIU could match up with Turner, Lighty and Buford. I don't think they have the athletes to keep up.

They will play zone against OSU so they don't have to guard those guys 1-on-1. OSU will have to can outside shots.

Kansas, more times than not, chokes in the tournament. I didn't have them making it past Elite Eight so my bracket is doing better than other people. If Diebler and/or Buford is hot, OSU is very hard team to play against.

Dear Evan Turner,

You have nothing to prove. You carried this team on your broken back for much of the season. You have always been unselfish and seem to get as much of a thrill setting up a teammate with a great pass as scoring yourself. You are a warrior when it's time to play defense and rebound. These are all reasons you are a great player and will go down in OSU history as one of the best ever.

During the next two weekends, keep in mind that the your teammates have stepped up big lately. Please take care of the ball and trust them. Everyone who gets playing time can get the job done. Pass the ball around until someone gets an open look at the basket. Your team's field goal % is much higher when you guys do that. And, you are effective with your back to the basket even though you rarely post up. Your team can win this tourney but it will take everyone to keep stepping up.

I hope you get drafted by the Cavs and go on to be an All-Star. Thank you choosing to be a Buckeye and providing Buckeye fans with so many thrills.
