This is Melissa Leo from Frozen River... age appropriate and lovely:

Natalie Portman did look radiant. And Tilda Swinton, God bless her, did her usual David Bowie, space oddity, reptilian elegant thing. It always amazes me that she has such an audience in the US, she seems so positively, delightfully un-American.

Marissa Tomei's dress, and to some extent Jessica Biel's (bad) and Kate Winslet's dresses, all had a little bit of that new structured geometry we'll be seeing in spring. Feats of tailoring wizardry.

I'm still a little mad that Tomei won so many years ago for "My Cousin Vinnie" :)

Jesus Lord, Shroud, thanks for the pic of Fey! See what I mean? Hot-blooded. Check it and see. At one point I saw my roommate's eyes connect directly with her yabbos and he said, "Wow. What. A. Dress."

Tilda should try not wearing a sack on the carpet. I like her as an actress but her outfit for the night was FUG. Also was Jessica Biel's
I did think all the white was very pretty.

No, seriously, she is a talented actress. Just not necessarily Oscar material in "Vinnie", IMO.

I thought the 5 actors thing was cool at first....but by the end it felt really self indulgent. Like Will Ferrell doing James Lipton. "Your performance was a blinding brilliant light!". Rourke was amazing in the Wrestler....I loved almost everything about that movie though.

I'm also not really enjoying the recent trend (at least it seems recent to me) of the Academy picking a "favorite" and just throwing awards and nominations at it. The fact that there are 3 nominations for best song and 2 were from the same movie is just silly, IMO.

On the bright side, I thought the set decoration was great, and Jackman did a fine job. The bit about the Reader in the beginning musical number had me ROFL.

A-Freaking-Men. How is that woman still famous, and for what?? Being beige and overtoned? When I look at her, it's like looking at a piece of corrugated cardboard from the side. Really, really boring.
