I know no one will probably see this because I just came across this post this morning. I bought a house and moved to Franklinton as a single woman over 8 years ago and have never had any problems. I live 2 blocks east of Central. Almost everyone in my neighborhood has lived there for decades, some their entire lives. It has a real friendly, family oriented feel. Everyone knows everyone and watches out for each other. Heck, I left my garage open all day once while I was at work and as soon as I came home a couple of my neighbors came over to tell me and nothing was stolen. I never had that in Victorian Village or when I lived at Summit and Hudson for 10 years. Got robbed when I lived on Summit.
My boyfriend moved in with me last year from Yellow Springs and he loves it too. It's quiet and peaceful. We ride our bikes everywhere because it's convenient to the bike path and traffic is pretty light most of the time on W. Broad, Mckinley and Grandview Ave across 670.
It makes me sad to see how everything seems to be going downhill since the economy took a nosedive --boarded up and burned out houses everywhere. But it's still a lot more affordable than living in one of the "desirable" neighborhoods around Columbus. I don't regret moving here at all.
