Maybe I'm missing something --I'm not sure where all the hatred for Magdiale is coming from. I'm not a vegetarian, and have never eaten at the main restaurant, but I've always thought it was a great that we have a world-class vegan restaurant in town. I've enjoyed eating at On-The-Fly; the vegetarian friends I've directed to Dragonfly have always been impressed; and the few times I've encountered Magdiale or his wife in person, they've never been less than gracious --if a bit distracted.
It may be that other people have had bad experiences, but it sounds just like the same old chorus of naysayers trying to tear down anyone in this town with the audacity to try to be the best at something. I know Columbus has an "Anti-Elitist" ethic, but sometimes we take it way too far.

ok this one time a mouse supposedly ran into the sink (personally I think humpty dumpty was pushed) and magdiale turned on the garbage disposal to 'dispose' of the poor innocent little mousy :'(
I mean srsly whoever would do that is a little bit not right.

No, I completely missed both his posts here and the "mouse" incident. I'll see if I can find those in the archives. But then, that's why I asked.

He almost killed me once on my bicycle when he was doing 90 mph in reverse down the alley beside Dragonfly in his Volvo wagon. I was going to confront him but he appeared totally unhinged and I decided it was in my best interest to keep moving rather than have a teachable moment about sharing the road. I just chalked it up to chef behavior/temperament/anger issues. Always enjoyed the food at both restaurants though.

I don't think anyone holds it against you if you try to be the best at something, as long as you don't actually say so. ;-)

In all my experiences at D-Fly, On the Fly, and with Magdiale and Cristin, they've been nothing but great, accomodating, and very friendly. It's anecdotal, I guess, but that has been my experience.
I, for one, love Dragonfly, and I'm always interested in seeing what they're up to. Looking forward to the new happenings at their place!
