Has anyone used this? They have great free tool rental, I believe up to 7 days, for a variety of projects. I was going to go there today but have one question for anyone that's gone there. DO you know if they check for building permits if you are getting certain tools from them? Perhaps it's too much paranoia on my part...

Do you know if you have to be an OTE resident?

This used to be an almost city wide program. A neighbor used them a few years ago to borrow extension ladders but I heard that this was discontinued a year or so ago. Supposedly, someone broke into the trucks that held most of the stuff and stole a bunch of it.
The nice thing about living in OTE is that someone in the neighborhood usually has the tool you need. What are you looking for?

I just called them a few weeks ago and their main bld off Cassady sounds like it is still open. I'm going there today after lunch, I thought I'd try and get a feel for it before I head over there. I'll post what I find out.

Do what I do whenever I have to call the city with a question - Use someone elses address. Just don't use mine.

I used it a few years ago when it was city-wide. Got a wheelbarrow, and a spud bar. It was a fantastic and easy to use service.
But then I got a notice a few months ago about a laptop getting stolen from their truck, which had my info in it. So now the city is paying for my credit watch service.
