Went by the space on High St. last night and it looked like they were completely redoing the facade and interior. The front wall was completely off the top floor and a temp wall was in place. This leads me to believe that this is a rebuild rather than a demolition, but anything is possible.
Anyone aware of the plans they have for this space?

Somebody at work said last time he was in the neighborhood, that they want to have a rooftop terrace and have the windows below open up like Marcella's etc in the Yukon Building. Unfortunately he couldn't remember who they said was taking the spot.

I've checked around with a few sources. Everyone seems to be in the dark on what's going on there. Weird.
But yeah, the construction looks pretty extensive. I took a photo one of the first few days into it only to see the whole front of the building ripped off a day or two later. Wow.

It's a bummer, I went there once and the food was fantastic. Shrimp stuffed crab...or was it crab stuffed shrimp? Anyways, it was fantastic.

Snapper's was old, outdated and tired to say the least. Not missed and the service was horrible. Last I heard was someone from Cleveland is changing the whole place and putting in high end Italian with a mix of Lounge upstairs.

A quick search through the Department of Liquor Control site shows the license transferring to a Dream Visions LLC (700 N. High Street). A followup check with the Secretary of State website shows that registration to a Brent Clevidence. One more quick Google search would indicate that it's probably a Champps going there. Hence the brick facade and open out windows.

you know when I saw that it was going to be completely demolished I kind of wondered that. A lot of chain like places have a track record for doing a compleat rebuild even if it is to build the exact same thing that was there before.

Are you basing that solely on the fact that Clevidence is listed as a manager at the Morse Rd Champps location? Any other info that lends to that conclusion? That would be AWFUL.

I am very skeptical of this "Champs" claim. I find it hard to believe that the Italian Village/ Victorian Village commisions or the SNBA would let this happen. Of course I never thought I'd see a Starbucks across the street from Mojo either... :( All is lost I tell ya.

It's guess based on JonMyer's comments and the public information. I haven't seen the building to see if it fits the common Champps style, but I'll be down there tomorrow and will give it a check. It certainly wouldn't be unusual for a manager to become a franchisee.
Again, just a guess...

Champps in the short north would not be awful, i think it would be better personally if they were downtown proper, but this isnt bad. Besides some issues I can think of with parking, I dont have any problems with it if it is them at all. People need to get off their high horse, a Champps or a Starbucks is not the end of the short north and in fact would probably add something to the neighborhood in way of increased diversity of options for the area.

yea But at a certain point everyone can be bought. Also may be more likely to stick a little longer because they are more likely to afford the steep rents in the area as opposed to a independent place. But I am just rambling take it with a grain of salt
