COLUMBUS, Ohio - This fall, fans will be treated to a high-tech sight and sound experience unlike anything presented on a football Saturday in Ohio Stadium. A $7 million improvements project will replace the 11-year-old Ohio Stadium scoreboard and audio system with a larger, high-definition screen flanked by two clusters of speakers with new LED ribbon boards running the length of the South Stands. The project will commence April 23 with a completion date set for early August.

While I was in school at OSU I worked as a student scoreboard animator. The "old" scoreboard was brand new at the time and I was fortunate enough to work on the original lineup of animations. Makes me kind of sad that my old stuff won't be gracing the shoe anymore, but sounds like a solid upgrade for the stadium.

Call me old fashioned, but I enjoy watching the game instead of a scoreboard. I'd be perfectly happy if all digital scoreboards were removed from the 'shoe.

My season tickets last season were in B-deck for the first time in years and you can't see the scoreboard from there at all. I wish they'd add some big all weather HDTVs to B-deck mostly for replays.

Teams don't score that many points....I think the average OSU fan can keep track of them in their head or ask the person next to them.

Okay, I'm being a little sarcastic, but some of the charm of Ohio Stadium is the lack of digital displays, banners, and advertisements. I guess I'd like to keep commercialism at bay in a very historic icon here in Columbus.

I'd rather have more seat's. Let's be honest, we don't really care about other team scores, and we don't need a super mega scoreboard.

The old scoreboard was over a decade old and way behind the times compared to modern displays.
