Hopefully they won't be like "oh sorry, we don't have any money for freeway caps, and BTW Walker we're buying your house".

I'd love for the government to buy my house. I could definitely use a bail-out. My wife wants to move to Grandview or UA.

I'm planning on attending to see what they have to say and to voice my opinion on the split fix.

Crap I'm going to have a hard time making this one.

doesn't sound like there's going to be a time to voice one's opinion though.

    When they say

Purpose of Meeting The ODOT team will present a project update and an overview of the draft design enhancement concepts for the freeway and city streets of the I-70/71 Innerbelt Project.

usually means it's one of ODOT's "talk at you" sessions, that's closed for public comments.

Still I'd like to know if Mound/Fulton conversions are still being done or not.

The whole project has a timespan of like 2010-2017, right?

2015 doesn't seem that far down the road.

I suppose it isn't. But considering that when I first started going to these meetings the whole project was supposed to be completed by 2010 It does seem like quite a push back.

Just depends on your perspective I guess.

Shoot. last i heard, the only houses being lost to this thing are in F-ton. Somehow they managed to engineer their way around GV and OTE houses but ran out of ideas over here. Maybe they didn't think Fton would push back...

Could one help Franklinton push back even if one doesn't live in Franklinton? Wink wink? Eh?

What needs to be done is getting less local people to use this stretch of highway. It worked unchanged for decades without the high rate of accidents we have today and what are we going to do when the "fix" needs to be done again and again?

Oh well, they're having a meeting at 4:30 to ensure no one makes it. Most people get off of work at 5 and are unlikely to go to something when they already missed at least half of it.

Once again it's rather clear that cars are the #1 priority of ODOT and you can bet the new feeder streets will negate the connectivity of the caps. We'll have the highway and then two mini-highways on either side. I don't understand why just because a street is a feeder street means that it can't be pedestrian-friendly. Whether or not this is going forward, with money they do not have to be doing this in the first place BTW, is irrelevant as to making our existing feeder streets more pedestrian-friendly (and business-friendly: see Gay St). They can still funnel highway traffic from the south side to the north side and vice versa at a slower speed while still timing lights for traffic to hit all green lights. ODOT hasn't bothered to do this before and they still haven't on existing feeders, so we have no reason to believe that they will in the future.

The most important questions are: why is there no opposition whatsoever from city officials who should absolutely be against this and is ODOT still going to tear down commercial buildings on Parsons which they even admitted in the meeting about Dodge Park in Franklinton wasn't necessary, but the purpose is for the fastest traffic flow possible?

    No problem!

I should probably add a link to the news from the meeting:

This project doesn't effect me as much as some of you, but I'm bummed about the lack of caps too. I think that was one of the best parts.

I hope that everyone can come into an agreement and we get rid of the congestion.
