Hello all, I need a little advice. I'm going to be in need of an ob/gyn here pretty soon, as I am in my first trimester. I would really like to hear some of your recommendations on hospitals, physicians, etc. I currently reside in Grandview, but will be moving to Merion Village in the near future. I'd like to find someone somewhat close to MV (if possible).

not too close to MV, but I really like Women Physician's in OB GYN. Riverside office.
Also really liked Riverside Hospital.

Hey, congratulations to all you expectant Mom's. And to all you Dad's, I hope you don't end up signing the birth certificate as Doctor of Delivery. My wife had maybe an hour labor, and the kid was in a big hurry to enter the world I guess.

+1 million. I LOVE Dr. Ronda Gaiser at Women Physicians. She's been my doc for a while, I'll have delivery room experience with her sometime on or around October 16 and can give a full review after that. But I think she's just awesome overall.

As a matter of fact, I'm scheduled to deliver next week - wish me luck! (at 39.5 weeks this baby STILL refuses to flip over, so it looks like it'll be surgery for me... but that's OK, as long as it comes out healthy!) (plus, 2 bonus weeks off work - woohoo!)

Does anybody know of an OB/GYN currently accepting new patients on CareSource - other than OSU? I just called about 5 providers in the book, 5 from the website, and none of them accept CareSource anymore. A few of them expressed their frustration with CareSource for not paying.
So I called CareSource customer service, navigated to an operator, got transferred to member service, and was told there are 39 people ahead of me. Eek! Help, anyone?

Being that the doctor's who delivered my children are probably retired now, I can't speak firsthand. However, I've heard very good things about Uma Ananth. She works out of Riverside.

Plus One Megazillion on Geri Hewitt.
Actually had miserable experiences with pg #1 and #2 at Kingsdale. Front office was a nightmare for me. (Spent several lifetimes in the waiting room, or struggling with an answering machine or on hold or ignored)
I like offices where human beings answer the phone and the waiting room wait is under 20 minutes. So glad I found that at Dr. Hewitt's for #3. A world of difference . . . for me, anyway.

Yay for Merion Village! We love living there.
Dr. Geiser delivered my daughter. Dr. Vanek is my OBGYN. I don't have any real complaints, just remember your OB will only be there at the very tail end of your delivery to catch the baby. And with Women's in Physicians you get whoever is on call. It's all about the nurses during labor and delivery. I recommend using a doula for labor support.

I thought I'd revisit this topic as I am looking to find an OB/GYN. In particular I would like to minimize my potential for Caesarean and episiotomy. So if you have experience in this regard, I would appreciate your advice. If you can recommend a physician who will work with patients to avoid turning childbirth into major surgery, that would be helpful, too.

Mae, are you comfortable using a midwife? There are two at Women's Contemporary Health Care in Westerville. My friend recently delivered using CNM Rebecca Wagner and had nothing but great things to say about the experience. I know Rebecca is a big supporter of natural birth and less invasive procedures.
