He sure seems to be in Ohio a lot these days. This I think is the 4th show in the last year or so. Probably more.

was that photo taken just after he found out he was playing columbus?

He's played here before and from what I heard put on a good show. I know there's a lot of music snobs on these forums, and I'm not the biggest Oakenfold fan myself, but I'd rather have him play here instead of NOT playing here.
Electronic music is electronic music. If you want to divide the scene between generes and styles and not embrace it as a whole community, then top40 american music will always be dominated by hip-pop/pop-rock/junk.
I fully support the Oakenfold show. It's only less night of top40 music at Skye Bar, right? 8)

He looks like a flat chested woman.

Good points Walker.
I have seen him once before last year here, and it was fine. Better than any top 40 night. I probably won't be in attendance this time, but I won't hate on him or anyone who decides to go to this.

This place seems very ready to spend big dollars on high-level talent. I am personally not a fan of Oaky but I understand why they book him.
If anyone knows who is doing all this big spending, suggest to them to book Lil' Louis Vega. Now there is a headliner who is worth the money. His live sets are absolutely amazing; he puts more passion into his performance than almost any other DJ I've seen (besides Julius the Mad Thinker).

i'd rather see djs booked because of cutting-edge talent rather than crossover success. i know it's a chicken-and-egg thing, that the average punter here would be more likely to go see a dj like oakey or tiesto who's famous and who they've seen on mtv or whatever, so i don't blame the promoters for bringing in these kinds of people. just saying that i'd rather see a guy who's building a reputation than one who's coasting on one...

Of course I would also rather see new and different DJ's/producers come into town. But none of them will make as much money as this, and that's basically what it comes down to.

Then you can go to Carlile for "Quality", while other people can go to Skye Bar for Oakenfold. We should feel blessed to have options like these! 8)

I never understand it when people get angry or spiteful when someone like Oaky is booked. If you don't like it, don't go. There are plenty of other places to spend your time and money, don't subject yourself to the apparent anger/stress this is causing you.

I'll go if I'm in town.
He looked awfully sleepy last time he came here, but his new album is not so bad.

I just wish these people would spend a little less and bring someone like Nic Fanciulli, or Paul Woolford, Robbie Rivera, Erick Morillo, John Digweed (well that wouldn't be much less of $$ but it'd damn sure be a better night). There are plenty more dj's out there with 10X the talent and 1/2 the exposure that would make for a much better show in Columbus.
One dj that would be excellent for columbus would be James Zabiela, or Danny Howells. A couple dj's that really get into what they do behind the decks. Oakenfold is about two steps away from simply putting in a mix cd and playing that while faking the actual dj'ing part.
