Good evening all! Apologies for not posting sooner....le Chocoholique is a family owned business, and we've done 90% of the buildout just the two of us - Dana even custom built our display cases which are beautiful. Time has been spread rather thin the last few months. We've had some help from family and friends only.
We are both excited and proud to set up shop in the Short North. About us? Monica Barr and Dana Jablonski are the proprietors/chocolate fanatics. We've had a successfull software company contracting with Nationwide for the last several years. So, you're asking....why a chocolate shop? Why not? Chocolate safisfies stressful days, soothes a sad day, enriches the ordinary mood, and can turn a grumpy girl happy. Passion. When travelling I alwasys sought out the best chocolates prior to the trip and mapped it out. The search spawned from our love of fine chocolates, family owned businesses, local artists (our chocolates look like little works of art)and came to the realization Columbus was missing something like this.....years in the thought process, 6 months in the design, development, and here we are!!
Currently we have about 42 vendors and at least 500+ various items in our shop. The majority of our vendors are one man shops who've never wholesaled (til now) some of the larger vendors are Moonstruck (which maintains great exclusivity as does Vosges.)From your traditional milk/turtle, to creme brulee, to peach champagne, olive oil with basil and alderwood, orange blossom caramels, marzipan, blue and goat cheese samplings, lavander, violet, rosewater, spicy habanero truffles as well. Several vegan lines (that are delicious!) kosher and even wheat free. A nice array of champagne truffles....and other liqur infused truffles we intend to AWE you with SOON. ******to come soon*******Wine/cheese/chocolate tastings, fondues (which as many assorments as we have flavors!) and European bonbons with a crunchy sweet shell filled with you favorite spirits. We also intend (as we get into our groove)to offer light breakfast and lunch items as well as have a kitchen/food open late at night when you are hankering for sweets.
Our idea is to pick what you want....no more of this getting a box of chocolates and biting into half then making sure nobody sees you throw it away :)
Candles created in 12 amazing chocolate "flavors" for us by candle lab are what you will smell as soon as you walk in our doors. Along with the candles for sale, I have a multitude of cocoa inspired spa and bath products that will leave you silky smooth and subltly scented....very nice!
SO, if you are just in the mood for a chocolate treat, need a last minute gift for a co-worker, need a quick "uh oh I messed up" box, custom made wedding favor boxes with handpainted or stamped chocolates, or if you just want to peruse and slowly work your way through our multitude of flavors..it's for your pleasure Columbus, so please offer you comments and suggestions :) and bring your SWEET TOOTH!!!!!
