i'd be curious how you came up w/ 1200 cals? that sounds more than a'bit' high, although I might not be thinking about the salad dressing i suppose and there is cheese and condiments on the burger, but still 1200 is a load considering a big mac with a medium fry clocks in at 980 cals at McDonalds

Mike Reed. Thanks for your vehement support of this thread I have been waiting to initiate for a few weeks. I think I saw you from a distance yesterday during Eric Nassua's peefromance. Hi.

Hi Zach.
More evidence of your genius, brother.
Sorry I didn't get to buy you a beer. Wasn't Eric and the band just great?

The new Clintonville Northstar location does not have free soda refills. You get a stupid 8 ounce glass bottle for something like $1.75. C'mon, Northstar. This isn't Europe. Fountain soda is cheap - give us the hookup, dammit.
That said, that's my only complaint about Northstar. Try the thai chicken burrito - freaking delicious.

Yeah, Eric's show was great. Folk music is never a sound I search for, but stuff like that is always wonderful. Plus it did not hurt that I was receiving a back massage during the whole show :)

ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER ARCHITECTURE?!?!?!?!?
I am beginning to think you are crazy.
Really.

Yeah, I second Wootie. This ain't Europe. We told those Euro assclowns to get out of America 230 odd years ago, and they just do not get it.
Go post the olde Declaration of Independence on CV Northstar's front door and see if they get the point. If not, we'll tar and feather 'em with fair trade tar and free-range feathers!!!!!!!!!

most amazing thread EVER! i don't get the hype about northstar. i have never had anyting really great from there.
i got a thai peanut burrito -it was all rice and tortilla and no peanut sauce at all and barely any chicken. and they don't have plain green tea - it's all fruity and crap.
if i want something fruity, i'll eat fruit. or hang out with my gay boyfriends or my girlfriend.

Now I know you're crazy.

Yeah Ginger,
You want tooty fruity hooty, move to Costa Rica. Here in the Home of the Buckeyes we like it greasy and good.
What's up with the magazine rack in the place. It must be to distract you from thinking about the lack of any service or real dining. A real chef would be insulted if you read a copy of Adbusters while munching on your 'wrap' or hummus nonsense.

I've personally never dared to touch their periodicals for fear of bromohydrosis.

apparently during the daylight hours buckeyes sure seem to dig all the fruity costa rican nonsense that northstar provides as the line is way out the door,
whereas over at Apollos or Buckeye Donuts, serving wholesome, patriotic greasy fare you could easily waltz in with no fuss and no line for a quick lunch (of course post 1 am the story changes)
but nonetheless you may be amazed to learn that our founding fathers were big fans of hummus wraps and that was one of the reasons they staged the boston tea party, so that they could get back to drinking green tea, smoking their hookahs and eating falafel. USA!

I think this is how an angry mob starts.
Except I'm saying I'm a North Star lover. I think they run a nice business and great food.
No one has mentioned how awesome their hot sauce is.

Northstar rules. Anybody who claims otherwise is foolish.
Thank you.

i've already lit my torch and grabbed my pitchfork - i would however set both down for a burger and the orange ginger smoothie thing.

They never have the magazine I am interested in reading like MAD, CLUB, and CRAKED.
And if they were into 'local' stuff they would have magazines about Buckeye football, hunting, and car repair being that many more Columbusite are interested in such than they are in holistic pottery. They would have TBDBITL playing over the sound system instead of the usual foreign stuff.
Why do not they serve local food like corn on the cob, pumpkins, venison, tobacco, and sunflower seeds?
I like how the CV northstar has those communal tables in the center. Too bad it is too far out to visit daily.

Honestly, I've only been to Northstar once. What I had was alright. I haven't gone back much because I don't live close enough, and the place always looks too busy for me to want to fight for a table. Good for them though for raking in the business.
Anyway, I can't say I find any of the reasons given for disliking the place riot-mob-inducing. If you don't like the place, don't go. It's not like the food there got anyone sick or the staff was rude. If you want free refills on pop with your meal, there are thousands of other places you can go to get 64 oz of cola.

I just got on the Northstar bus recently. After hearing all the buzz about the place, I had to check it out. I went for an early brunch and snagged an outdoor table, plus ordered the ricotta pancackes. Both rocked... and not having to tip was kind of awesome. Eating inside would be a bit creepy. It's kind of like the magazine section of a bookstore only with food -- ever seen the Seinfeld where George would take books/ magazines into the bathroom and then put 'em back on the shelf? Yeah. Creepy.

Yes, I know many of the complaints have been in jest, but not all of them.
