I was flipping around last night and caught a glimpse of Gasworks on one of the local new channels. I missed the story, but did someone catch it? Just wondering what they said.

Really a sad story, and reason number 96 not to go to Gaswerks.

Jesus. Well, I'm off to work, right across from Gaswerks.
I can't believe that actually happened. That is so sad.
I think Gaswerks is really scary, from top to bottom.

i saw that too. i can't believe no one saw anything! there has to be someone.
i also hate that place.

I find it hard to believe that there is not anyone who saw what had taken place and can come forward with information.
They said one punch  and the victim was being kept alive on life support so that his organs could be harvested.

Wow, the guy had a case of beer so he was def. going to a party and someone knows who did this. I hope they suck it up and turn him in.

I believe the same thing happened a few years ago at one of the other Arena District spots, only the guy got hit with a glass or a bottle and bled out...IN the bar...and no one ever stepped forward to say who did it.

Remember... somebody got stabbed in the throat in the middle of the bar at Gordon Beirsch about 5 years ago and they never caught that guy. And he STABBED SOMEBODY IN THE THROAT right in the middle of the bar. Unless this guy ran home to his buddies and said "Wow, I just totally knocked out some guy in front of Gaswerks" They will sadly never find him.

The other thing is there a ton of cops who sit right out of gaswerks. How did they not see this or stop him?

well, if the guy was drinking and he gets hit and then his head slams into the pavement, that is enough to kill you.
you gotta figure, the head is about 5-6 feet in the air, if dropped from that height onto concrete some serious damage can be done.
one of the reasons bike helmets are prefered. it's not how fast you are going, it's also because of the distance of the height of the fall can do brain damage.

One punch happens pretty fast.

There was another "one punch killing" over on High St. by Victory's (I think it was) YEARS ago, where an old man was yelling at some young guy about his car stereo being too loud, old man started pushing young guy, young guy one punched old man who died.

What I find interesting is that the article says the assailant was outside the bar holding a case of beer.
This leads to a few questions;
1) what brand? (this would narrow down the register sales at all near by bars)
2) Most bars now have cameras to keep an eye on staff and patrons near the registers. Unless the bartender "gave away" or camera is off.
3) Bartenders usually remember the case sales and strange drink sales.
Just my thoughts,

Sorry to be fear mongerer here.. but there was also a rape at Marshall's in Grandview in 07 and they never caught that guy.

To be clear, this did not actually happen at Gaswerks. It happened on the street outside Gaswerks by a guy who wasn't even a patron at Gaswerks (the article said he had a case of beer).

Maybe I'm not thinking of a place, but it occurs to me there's no carryouts right there, so he may well have purchased that "to go" beer from Gaswerks.
p.s. Notice it occurred at closing time (2:30) as well.
