I am thinking of buying some things from this online retailer but want to know if anyone has had an experience with them?

What about ordering a refurbished LCD TV.....I have a dinosaur and want to save space too with a skinny screen. Any brands to steer clear of? I think Dead Pixels should be the name of a band.

Ooooh, that site looks like what I need!
Question for all you IT'ers.
After my super traumatic laptop crash last week, my IT doods reiterated the importance of backing up. Yeah, yeah, whatever. Well, now after realizing I've lost all my pictures, music, etc. you know PERSONAL stuff, now I get it.
So!! What exactly do I need to buy in order to back this thing up???

Samsungs have been good for me as monitors and TVs, and Sony has a good rep as well.

Price Watch is an aggrigator that uses all the above mentioned websites and more to get you the best deal. I use it a lot just make sure to watch the ratings but I have never received anything bad from them.

Yes, 1 TB should be plenty.
As far as refurb LCD's go, I bought a refurb'd Vizio a few years back and had zero problems with it. Upgraded to a bigger screen recently, but would def. do it again.

Pull out the hard drive (assuming that isn't what went bad cause then your screwed) and get a 2.5" inclosure that converts it to a USB drive. Hook that sucker up to another computer and whalla!
As for the person that suggested a 1TB hard drive he is a little off base I would say. If it were me and I didn't really need that much space I would look at setting up 2 500gb hard drives in a RAID1 mirror that way it writes to both at the same time and if one fails you have a backup already installed. Alot of these 1TB drives have a similar option, however, it really only helps with corruption of files cause it is still on one hard drive and if that one fails your screwed.
The best/most expensive is to get an account on a cloud file host like Apple's MobileMe and use that then there is no need for redundancy cause someone else is taking care of it for you :-)

You lost me after the first sentence, no offense. It's a work laptop so I don't know what they did I just know I got my laptop back and it sure is zippy and fast, but it's empty and nothing was recoverable. Also, I'm in printing so I accumulate incredible amounts of big, fancy files. I think I'll start with the 1TB and see where that gets me. Thanks for the input!
