Some more good news for the neighborhood: aside from Middle West Spirits are the (creatively named) Shops on 5th in the neighboring building to the south.

I just saw this today too. Hope they get some cool tenants. Nice to see it off High St.
And we know how some people say the rent for retail in the SN is way too high, so this should fit the bill and it's visible from High (and likely will be for a long while) without being located on it thanks to that ever barren lot. Whatever businesses go in here, I hope there's something that attracts some constant bustle.
Good news for the neighborhood!
Hopefully these spaces fill up quicker than the new
condo/retail spaces on high have.
That's cool, but kinda weird. Last I saw, all the retail spaces were still vacant below the apartments at Smith/High less than half a block away. I hope they have some interest already, I hate seeing all the vacancies :(

My understanding with those vacancies is that its more a landlord/rent issue than lack of interested tenants. Those places have been vacant for years despite being prime real estate in the area, yet a new build less than three blocks away (the Hungry Howies location) managed to fill its retail space fairly quickly.
Gosh, has it been that long?!? I didn't think construction finished years ago, but maybe. Time flies when you're having fun, lol.
Though I do believe you on the landlord thing. I think they were charging WAY TOO MUCH rent for those apartments considering how few amenities they offered. I found that a common theme with that landlord's listings when I was looking for a new place last spring.
