Hey, Everyone - we're excited to announce our newest monthly event this Thursday, January 7 at 1 pm. It will continue on the first Thursday of every month.

Wild Goose Creative believes everyone has a story to tell. To give those stories a voice we're proud to offer, Speak Easy, Columbus's premier event for live storytelling! It's simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant, you'll hear it all. Come to listen or come to tell as people from across Columbus offer their stories live on stage! A partnership w/ Storytellers of Central Ohio. Portion of proceeds to benefit Columbus Story Adventures.

You should totally do it, Coreroc! We'd love to have you. It runs just like an open mic. There will be a sign-up at the door. We're trying to keep the stories to about 7 minutes in length, so as many people get a chance to tell stories as possible.

Any limitations on content? I've got some good stories but most involve some sort of substance abuse and all include profanity.

Tomorrow night: Wednesday, August 11 is Stories Told Funny, a collection of hilarious short stories told by the Storytellers of Central Ohio. Begins at 7 pm.

What is the recommended age on this? I would love to attend, but don't have a sitter that night for my 10 year old son. He went to the last Pecha Kucha at the Wex and absolutely loved it, so I'm not concerned about his behavior or interest, just about others being uncomfortable with a kid there.

Hi, Amy! At Wild Goose we try to have a mix of events for all ages but since we've been doing it I would say that Speak Easy has probably been most appropriate for adult (or at the least mature middle school age) audiences. Since it's an open mic it's hard to know exactly what people are going to tell, and while there hasn't been anything too risque so far, it's just hard to control. But I certainly wouldn't worry about others being uncomfortable with you bringing your son. Hope to see you there!
