Does this mean that ALL of their stores will look like this? Because the Wendy's across from Westland Mall looks like.. well a bomb hit it and I know other Wendy's (like the one in the article) have experienced demolition.

Kind of looks like the are going for the fast casual dining style.

I like it, but Ive noticed a lot of the menus at resturnats are going digital.. which I think are easier. But how would they do fast food drive in menu boards like that? Would it be a bunch of screans in a big plastic case? lol

Is there a name for that style of architecture? Post-Industrial Retro-Futurist?

Chairs without arms! Chairs without backs! Chairs without tables! It's like eating in the waiting area outside the Hudson News at Piet Mondrian Free-Jazz Heroine Nightmare International Airport! Enjoy the big-screen TV playing the Wendy's equivalent of the Gamestop Network, and the slightly-smaller bigscreens playing post-ironic corporate propaganda blurbs!
QUALITY IS OUR RECIPE

If they change the decor will they still have to eat there?

Seriously that could only be more desperately casual if it had beanbag chairs, and if it were any more sterile you'd be able to perform surgery in it.

I don't want to sit on an ottoman when eating my cheeseburger.

I hope all of that furniture is slip covered, because it's going to get so dirty!
Anyway, I think it is really wasteful to tear down a building just so you can redo the design. They really need to rip down the entire thing? Sad.Hopefully they have taken some of JimL2's previous recommendations. haha.

By the way, for comparison's sake here are some pictures of the ideas McDonald's was exploring when it considered a global redesign back in 2007:

And then in 2010:

...Yeah I can see how Wendy's is hoping to stand out from their competitors with this bold new redesign. :(

The McDonald's in the South Hamilton Roof Collapse District is designed like the first pic.
Wendy's stores in Virginia have yellow roofs instead of bronze. Must be a cultural thing.

How exactly did McDonald's plan to shrink people down to Lego-size? Granted, I've always wanted to be able to walk through a Lego building, but I imagine giant ants would be a problem there.

Also - it reminds me a little of what the new Long John Silver's look like - exposed metal exterior with corrugated walls, overly aggressive angles. The upside to LJS are the paper pirate hats.

Yes, the angled gray slabs of corrugated metal, enough already. At least they don't have the massive ceiling-mounted HVAC some places love.
I was thinking Jetsons, too. And the furniture reminds me of Ren Hoek lounging. Maybe they could have a free-fez promotion.

I went through the drive-thru of the new Wendy's on Bethel tonight after a trip to Microcenter.
It looked nice. I wouldn't mind if they all looked modern.
Food is still the same.
