Sounds like it's coming out this week.
Any guesses as to what sorts of bells & whistles it'll have?

I'm not even sure I care? My iPhone 3 has turned into such a massive piece of shite that my desperation for the 5 is nearly at a medicate-as-necessary state.
I'll wait for iPhone 6, muahahahaha.
I have the 32GB iphone 3GS which is fine, but Anne has the 8GB version and it's insanely slow (which only became a problem after she updated the OS).
I'm skipping the 4, but looking toward the 5 for a possible upgrade. Though I don't think what's being announced this week is the 5.
I thought it was confirmed by apple that it was the 5? You never know with them.
Mine is the 8 gig 3g, and yup, I the OS updates are what seems to have killed it. taking a photo (with the standard cam) and trying to text it to someone from the photobook is insta-lockup and crash.
fun times..... But I couldn't go without. Damn you apple.
I'm currently a Droid Incredible (by verizon) and I'm so damn sick of that phone. It crashes on me all the time. I wasn't a huge fan of the iPhone in the beginning but in the past couple of months, I have been caught up with the news of the I5 and I'll admit it. I'm excited to leave the Droid phones and purchase the I5. Tomorrow at 10PST will end all rumors on what the I5 will be or if the I5 will even be introduce since they are rumors that Apple will talk about an upgraded iPhone4 phone. I am eligible for a new phone and this is perfect timing. I will be part of the iPhone generation very soon. Every phone has its ups and downs so I'm not going to say I'm going to wait a few months later to get it so all the "Bugs" are worked out.

not all droid phones are created equally- huge range of hardware quality that runs that particular operating system. and the Incredible isn't 'by verizon', it's by HTC.
what's a droid? is that like a special iphone?
I've heard good things about Galaxy S2 and excited to see what Apple has in store. I have an EVO 4G and I like it a lot but its battery just stinks. I'm not due for upgrade until April though which means I'm either waiting for Galaxy S3 or iPhone6

Yup - totally agree about the big OS upgrade a while back. That was a killer.
Mine has gone so insane, it has a hard time finding itself on the map. As in, for about 3 hours one day, it thought I was in the middle of the Mosquito Creek Wilderness Area. Since I've never been there, I'm pretty sure the phone has never been there.
Rascally phone.
Internet speculation (fwiw) claims that Apple won't be announcing an iPhone 5 but rather an iPhone 4S, similar to the way the 3G was followed by the 3GS. Expect a faster iPhone 4 that backs up everything in the iCloud.
that would disappoint a lot of people. PR nightmare IMO
two phones.
the "awesome" new 5, plus an entry model, the 4s.
the new phone's screen will go all the way to the edge, but neither will have a screen bigger than 3.75 (in order to keep calling it "retina display")
sprint gets it, t-mobile doesn't.
neither will be 4g.
the droid incredible 2 will still be the better buy (for a 3g phone)
wildman, do you have the DInc 1 or 2? i'm hoping to talk to someone who uses the speakerphone on their"s a lot, because unless iphone5 completely knocks my socks off, i'll be picking up a DInc2 this month, but the speakerphone is a KEY part of my phone use, so it's a deal-breaker for me . . .
opinions?

ok, so from what i've read today, sprint spent 20 billion on 30.5 million iphones (over the next 4 years) so maybe "sprint gets it, nobody else does!"
(well, for like 6 months, probably)
and then the 4s for everybody else . . .
