Barley's does it every year. Well at least for the past few that I've been aware of. The night they tap the first keg of it is a purty big deal...wall to wall people in there.
I've had some home brewed IPAs I really like, and I don't really like IPAs at all. I don't think I've ever tasted one commercially for sale that I've liked. I'm just glad winter is here...stouts and porters here I come!!!! :)

You can find a Bourbon Barrel Ale, or something similar to that, at The Pub in the Polaris Fashion Place area. I'm not a fan of Polaris..but The Pub is a pretty cool place to hangout and get some grub. And the Bouron Barrel Ale is awesome!

I do love that crap though. It's cold and it isssssssss pretty watery and it's just damn tasty when you're super thirsty. It's not a great sippin' beer, but who sips beer anywhoo?

Excellent point, and both PBR and High Life must be super cold and consumed quickly.

As for the "Christmas" type beers, I have to put in a plug for CBC's Winter Warmer.

I am mad at Great Lakes, I have been boycotting all their seasonal brews, they stopped making my favorite beer, the beer that got me into better beers in the first place.

Bring back Holy Moses year round!!!

holy moses was pretty good, they also got rid of moon dog. it'll happen when you have breweries like great lakes that are constantly experimenting with new beers. it's kind of what makes them special, they're always going to have something new... even if it's not the greatest (grassroots).

Nosferatu is one beer that i truly respect though. it's good not great, but what i really appreciate about it is that it is a very original holiday beer. instead of just doing what's popular and making a pumpkin ale they make a blood red vampire themed beer... awesome. don't get me wrong, i like pumpkins ales, but nosferatu is cool

lastly, what happened to the great lakes christmas ale in columbus? it's sold out everywhere already!

The Treehouse carried Grassroots this summer because Phil, the owner, loved it. Myself and Joe (another bartender) thought it was grosstastic. I agree on the lawn clippings Lew. With some fennel or something added. I had 2 sips on 2 different occasions and dumped 'em. To each his own, I can drink Yeungling like a 20 year old frat boy on bid night or savor it with a fillet. Shit, I can brush my teeth with it. I LOVE it.

Great lakes Christmas Ale is better than Sierra's Celebration or Columbus' Winter Warmer. I've been using it to make "Sleigh Bombs" - basically a car bomb (Jameson & Bailey's) dropped into the stronger, more spicier Christmas Ales. It's like a cappuccino with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. Delish and POTENT. (And I haven't done a car bomb in like 5 years.)

If you're bummed about Holy Moses being seasonal & unavailable, run to a good beer shop and grab some Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. It's been widely regarded as the best wheat beer in the world for years, and isn't too pricey. Dangerously delicious & drinkable.

Also, Allagash White is an amazing world-class witbeir brewed in Maine that you can find around town (but a bit expensive and sold in 4-packs).

Other great ones in the same vein are Paulaner Hefeweizen, & Franziskaner. Hitachino Nest White Ale is also a KICK ASS (but expensive) witbier from Japan that I've seen at Whole Foods.

Holy Moses is a nice stab at a witbier from Great Lakes, but there are definitely some year-round alternatives that are just as good or better :)

I've been in Akron for the last two weeks, and the Great Lakes Christmas Ale is on sale everywhere up here.

Glazers, the company that handles GLBC in central ohio is out...

Try World Market Polaris...As of eight pm today there was still about 16 six packs left..I'd wager to bet it will be gone by tommorow night.
