Walker's gonna kill me for scooping him, but I can't resist!
We were talking the other day about the direction of the messageboard; really just brainstorming stuff (I'm a "silent mod" BTW); and he came up with an idea for broadening the demographics on CU. He said he wants to start a new forum category called "The Man Hole".
His plan is to start directing all the manly topics (sports, shaving, bacon, cars, whiskey, Tucker Max, etc.) to that area. Once it starts taking shape he's planning to do a targeted marketing campaign to attract more manly men (Maxim, Details, and GQ were sites that wer on his list).
Honestly I was skeptical at first, but when he started going through the data about how much traffic bacon, feminist bashing, and grilling got, I couldn't really argue. It's a gold mine, and Walker's got a responsibility to look after the bottom line.
I'm not sure when the launch is, but now that the cat's out of the bag maybe Walker will chime in with some details.
