Has anyone been to the new dog park @ the Whittier Penninsula?
Took the new pup over this weekend and it was really cool, lot of obstacles for them to work on their agility, which surprised me.
Nice view of downtown, looking east.
There are 2 sections, we took her to the one for smaller dogs.
Lot of obstacles...

I love that dog park and think it's one of the best in the city. The view of downtown is great and the agility course is fun. There is a great trail along the river too.
My only negative with this park is the drainage issue in the entry double-gate section where people remove leashes. It's a huge 5ft x 8ft puddle of runoff (from rain, I think?) right when you enter. My dogs drank from it once when I was distracted talking to a friend and they got Giardia and Clostridium (yay antibiotics!) Now I don't take off leashes until we're actually in the main park, which kind of defeats the purpose of the double gate entry section. This puddle is visible in the background of photo #3 above. It's been there every time I've gone, for the last 6 months, so it's not just because of the crazy rain recently.

wow this looks great! finally a dog park with a bit of agility equipment. i've been looking for something close since Wheeler dog park is so over-crowded now. thanks for posting!

We started taking our 10-month old 8-pound min pin there a few months ago and we all really like it.
One of the things I appreciate is that, for the most part, people adhere to the small-dog/large dog areas. We were in the small dog area and pretty much all of the dogs we've met there have been on the small side.
It was Sydney's first off-leash experience and she doesn't get to meet too many dogs as small as she is in her daily experience. We appreciated that she didn't get run over or frightened by being with big dogs. We didn't have the same experience at Alum Creek.
I also like that we can walk (on-leash)along a paved trail by the river under an arbor of trees. It's pretty and very soothing.
We try to go there at least once a weekend.
