Anyone know what will become of the current courthouse building once the new one is built? I haven't been able to find anywhere mention of what the city plans. It'd be a shame to end up with more vacant space downtown.

i do believe the reason for the new one is that the old one is overcrowded. both spaces should be used to full capacity.

It will most likely continue as a county operation as either as courts or other funtions. As the last poster said, to relive over-crowding.

the new court house will have the combined divisions of common pleas civil and criminal which currently are split and housed in both the 369 and 375 buildings, the common pleas admin offices will be in the new building too
domestic court will take up some of the vacated space and also move the domestic/juvenile clerks office to the 373 lobby offices where the engineering/admin offices are now-------making the old trudge of working floors 3-6 to get things done also include the lobby too for domestic stuff :(
that is the latest scuttlebutt I have heard anyway
what is interesting to me is they will be going online soon, very soon, appeals court goes online in june, the messenger crew is about to get really really small
the franklin county case load has been growing at like 5-6% annually from the unofficial numbers I see all the time just watching the year end case numbers, that is some pretty serious growth, doubling every 12-14 years
