I don't have an opinion on what buses look like, although I did drink a couple 40's last night.

If they aren't going to have a flashy exterior they should think about redoing the interior.

^Vomit on buses is gross.

Fyi - It's not just vomit.

I actually quite like the new busses. The first thing I thought of when I saw them was Cleveland's RTA but I think they appear more modern and fresh compared to the white ones which always looked dirty and outdated. I really like the Hybrid ones though. Now add the silver to the green stripes on the hybrids and I think we have a winner in my book. Oh well

This isn't the best example, but all the buses here in Buenos Aires have unique paint jobs. Some are more spectacular than others. It's like that in most of South America. I doubt the paint jobs impact ridership one iota. The bus just happens to be the fastest way to get around.
Anyhow, it is kinda nice to see. This one is duller than most:Are the buses run by private operators (kind of like taxis) or a single regional transit agency?
The buses are operated by a central transit authority. When I first got here they were a little intimidating because paying is casual. You just kinda estimate how much to pay based on how far you're going and drops some coins in a container behind the driver. I use them all the time now. They run 24/7 and most rides are about .25 - .50c US. People also politely form a line for the bus when waiting.
There is an underground subway system here, but honestly I never use it nor do most people I know be it locals or expats. Most (myself included) just take the bus or cab it, which is also cheap. No set fare structure. Sounds interesting.

Fyi - It's not just vomit.Maybe I've just lucked out, but I've never seen vomit or anything else gross on a local bus. Then again, I primarily ride less-busy commuter routes which is mostly just normal people trying to get somewhere and not crazy people going on a joyride.
But that's beside the point. Obviously.

The back

Thanks for posting this pic! Here's my two cents...
I'm indifferent about grey vs white as the new primary color. As for the swoosh, I'm not a fan. I don't think it looks very good at all.
Anyone know how COTA decided on the new color scheme? The board, management, staff and/or customer surveys?
Do they plan on repainting all buses in this scheme, including the hybrids? Would these buses have been repainted if there were no rebranding effort? If not, what's the cost of repainting just to rebrand?

I find the new design at least somewhat more interesting than before, but in a sense I don't want it to be too weird. If they painted the buses magenta and canary yellow, it would grab your attention and send the message that buses are a joke and only for oddballs. Silver may not say excitement but it does look modern and professional. I give a thumbs up to COTAs effort.
If somebody really thinks they have a better design concept, let's see some Photoshop action!

There are new sign posts coming out now too. And new ridership pamphlets. These could have all been redesigned in a new concept to make riding easier. And that boosts ridership. The booklets actually were redesigned, and they are much better. They now have points of interest in order on the front cover: http://www.cota.com/assets/Riding-Cota/Schedules/Current/007n.pdf
