New Administration of a Fine Arts Education: Matthew Higgs
Time: Wednesday, November 17 · 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Where: CCAD Design Studios on Broad (First Floor), 390 E. Broad St.
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Join us for an evening with Matthew Higgs, director and chief curator of White Columns, New York’s oldest artist-run space. Matthew has served as curator at CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts and associate director of exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. He has curated numerous exhibitions of international art and is a regular contributor to Art Forum and Frieze. He has taught in curatorial practice programs at California College of the Arts, The Banff Centre, and participated in ICi's Curatorial Intensive. He is currently a faculty member at Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard. As an artist and dedicated bibliophile, Matthew's work sometimes reuses printed material to reduce books to a conceptual level by removing their original context in order to create new meaning. He has exhibited widely with recent solo exhibitions in New York, Vancouver, and London.
Matthew's talk is second in the series The New Administration of a Fine Arts Education that features four public conversations with leading individuals in contemporary art, culture, and education who combine artistic and pedagogic practices.
