I have spent the last few months as a member of Blockbuster's DVDs by mail thing. I am not proud of this. I initially thought that I would use the return DVDs at the store feature - but the closest Blockbuster is almost an entire half-mile from my house. It's not like I have 10 minutes to spare, people. So, I never used it.

Now, I have switched to Netflix - and it is like God's love is shining on my face for the first time. You can watch bu-cu stuff on your computer. Now, I am thinking about buying a Wii, so that I can stream the stuff right to my TV.

So, here is my question(s):

-Does anyone up in this mofo do that?
-Does it work well?
-Is there a lot of buffering or delays?
-Is the picture all non-dimensionally correct?

Basically - is there any reason I should not get a Wii to do this?

Can't speak to the Wii. We use XBOX 360 and I have friends who use Boxee and both seem to work really well. We rarely have buffering occur, however, we also have a very fast internet connection. The picture is crystal clear, always. The instant streaming is definitely worth the purchase of a component that allows it.

I have it for the wii - and I LOVE it - love the fact that I can watch just about anything and it is almost instant - and I do not have any buffering issues either. I have RR, whatever their highest speed is, and have not had any issues.

I have the wii version and it works with no issues ever. The search function kinda sucks, but other than that...

We have an Insignia Blu-Ray player that is set up to do Netflix streaming. It's awesome. Excellent picture quality. This is the wave of the future.

I have the Roku box, which is dedicated to this function (it has a few other things like MLB.tv, Amazon and Pandora but I use it only for this). It works amazingly well. You can't tell a difference from a DVD. Occasionally I'll have a buffering issue but it's always related to glitches in my wireless network. Now that that've upgraded the interface, you no longer need to add things to your instant queue from the Netflix website first. You can do it directly from the TV.

I have it for the PS3. It works great and I rarely have buffering issues(and I have one of WOW's cheaper internet packages). I haven't used it much recently as I've watched most of the documentaries and TV shows that I wanted to see.
Also, if you're not the video game type, there are a bunch of Blu-ray players that have the same capabilities.

I have better results streaming from my mac to my tv than from my wii.

The wii netfilx search kind of sucks and often the movies don't look all that great.

Awesome for the man-room though since it doesn't have cable up there.

We use it for Xbox 360 and iPad. Works brilliantly on both. Never any buffering issues. Movies that are available in HD, stream in HD perfectly. Fantastic experience all around. If they're able to keep improving the availability of titles for streaming, it should only get better. Don't hesitate.

I've used it for the XBOX 360 and have been very happy with the quality when they have a show in HD. I've been disappointed with the way they make you queue up a program to watch it or only let you browse a limited selection on the fly.

You specifically mentioned getting the Wii to do this. You should know that it doesn't really support HD output to the TV, so I suggest any other player instead.

^yep. don't stream from wii if you want high def.

also on wii you have to insert a disc to use the netflix, i think on xbox/ps3 you dont need a disc but i may be wrong.

Do you know your speed? I've been thinking of doing this on my PS3 and I have Road Runner Lite 768Kbit-down and 128Kbit-up.

How good is the selection of videos? Are TV shows available too?

I love Nexflix instant view on Wii. It's only $9 a month. I do agree that searching for new content from the Wii is cumbersome, but if you add to your queue from your computer, it's easy. My wife and I are (six years behind the times) watching all of Lost this way. It's great not to have to wait for a new disc to arrive, the picture quality is great, and the load time is lightning fast. I don't really care about HD.

I have it for my PS3. It's pretty great, even having to insert a disc to do it (that should change next year). I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

That being said, it's not perfect. At the best of times, the picture quality is as good as DVD, but not always. Plus no 5.1 surround sound if that matters to you. The selection on there leaves me somewhat wanting at times. I find myself settling a lot with it. It's only going to get better though, plus it's supplemented by sweet, sweet blu-ray in the mail.

I have just recently started using Netflix instant on my Wii...setup is easy but I find that if I put the movies in to my queue on the website then go to my Wii it's easier to just select the movies that way rather than having to constantly move the Wii-mote and navigate every single category on there.

using a mac mini i scored on craigs list to do this, and yeah, like everyone else said, it's pretty much the shit. add boxee or hulu to the mix and it pretty much kills.

Xbox 360 Netflix has changed my life. No disc, and high-def video with HDMI and optical audio-out unlike the Wii. You currently need to pay for a LIVE Gold membership for it to work, however. All it's missing is surround-sound and a good way to add new movies to the queue from the couch, and it will be perfect.

I don't like the Wii interface for Netflix and it freezes/hiccups often.

Through my computer it is much better.
