There are a bunch of new artists showcased at travonna coffee house in the short north; if you buy art as a gift its worth checking out.
In the more affordable range there are some really interesting prints of city-scape/shots from downtown up on the back wall (all black/whites) that for some reason are priced far below most (if not all) of the other work displayed right now, they're all 50$ which is within gift price for me.

I've pretty much eschewed giving objects in favor of experiences. For families, a zoo membership is a nice idea, providing a whole year of fun, and usually, reciprocal free or half price admission at most other zoos, for fun road trips. Dine Originals gift certificates are great, and a few years ago, we gave gift certificates for Hocking Hills Canopy Tours - made for a very memorable, fun time (my mother in law had a blast, after being nervous for weeks beforehand!)
Stuff gets old, but memories last a lot longer, and don't take up room in your house.

For kiddies a new store (with a forgettable name apparently) opened at Worthington Square Mall. They carry pretty much every Melissa & Doug toy.
Wholly Craft! always has fun baby and kid clothes and handmade dolls. And they carry some Little Alouette pieces. Or there's Lottie Da for pretty, pretty things.
And for a gift of an experience, Firefly Play Cafe. Painting, yoga, clay classes or crazy free for all play time.

Local company, The Olive Orchard, imports the finest extra virgin olive oils in the world. The sampler set features six small bottles of flavored extra virgin olive oils from Turkey (lemon, orange, basil, thyme, red chile pepper and garlic--with the fruit and herbs co pressed with the olives not infused)! The Olive Orchard Sicilian was named the best extra virgin olive oil in the world and is being used by Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams for a flavor with sea salted pepitas. There are gift boxes and dipping sets too but a bottle of EVOO placed in a wine bag is also a great gift.
