I'm heading to Vegas next week and plan to spend a day lounging by the pool with a book and a cool drink. I could use some suggestions on the book. Looking for fiction, nothing too sad or heavy, but not entirely mindless.
I am picking up Autobiography of a Fat Bride for the NW book club. But since I'll be in Vegas for my own wedding it's a little too emblematic to be seen with.

HA! Good recommendation, that was one of the first riding books I read, it was very insightful. I read it before I'd ridden for the first time and the bit about countersteering boggled my mind.

"Serena" by Ron Rash. This guy is completely under appreciated and is quickly becoming my favorite author. His writing veers between simple and complex and he can spin a good yarn about a love story filled with villainous people that he somehow humanizes.

I LOVE Son of the Circus and would also highly recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany, easily my favorite John Irving book and maybe my favorite book ever.
For something light and nostalgic, I just read Bill Bryson's memoir, "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid". Great, quick read and very amusing.

I would also say, don't rule out any plays. they can be fairly easy to read and you can finish them in a day.

Ant Farm or Free Range Chickens by Simon Rich. He's a writer for SNL, and these books are a series of short sketches and thoughts. Very funny (the first books I've laughed aloud at in a long time), quick reads, and great to read while you're relaxing.

I love you Bear.
That's the best pick of alllllllll. I've watched that movie at least a dozen times in the last two weeks. I'd read the book again, but I'm in the midst of Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. Which is also a great recommendation if you love graphic and disturbing reads as I do...although Invisible Monsters is still my fave of his.
