The Nazareth Restaurant is now open in the old Chili's location at 161 and Cleveland Ave. I had lunch there today and they seem to have settled in quickly in their new spot. Nazareth is known for their gyros and hummus. I also really like their spiced rice and falafel. I hear they are working on a beer/wine license. Stop in & wish Hany the best on his move.

Glad to hear it! I was thinking about the place yesterday and wondered if they'd reopened. Thanks for the heads-up.

Had some Nazareth about 2 weeks back, looked like everything was pretty much ready to go. Great news, would love to see them come closer to the center of town, but I'll still make the trip on a regular basis.

FYI: Title should read Nazareth Deli to reflect the actual name. I barely found your thread and almost posted on the old thread.
Stopped by the first time since the move. Wow! This is a large space. Can fit 100 easily. One side seems to be prepped for large parties. We have so much vacant dining space on the North end, so I'm ecstatic that Hany was able and willing to breath life in this old Chili's. The "sunroom" section is my favorite spot in the restaurant.
The hand-cut fries are The Best in Columbus. Deep fried until dark brown, not golden and flimsy like all the rest. The falafel sandwich was bursting at the seams. It was just $6.95 for a pita and basket of fries.
Since he has the space, Hany has planned an Arabian Night for February 27 with 8:00pm seating. For $25.00, you will be treated to a multicourse dinner, and be entertained by belly dancers. No liquor license there yet, but he's allowing BYOB for Arabian Night. Reservations are suggested.

The arabian night sounds like a lot of fun. Anyone else want to go? CU meet up?

@Ryan Morgan- Hany was walking around with that aluminum bat the night I was there, just like his life size cutout. Must be a story there.

Fresh, flavorful ingredients enliven Middle Eastern fare
Thursday, December 9, 2010

The Columbus DispatchAfter several decades in a strip mall at Rt. 161 and Cleveland Avenue, Nazareth Restaurant & Deli has moved into larger quarters across the street.
The friendly servers seem to reflect the geniality of owner Hany Baransi, a native of Haifa, Israel.
As the name implies, the menu is Middle Eastern. The food seems healthful, without gratuitous fat and salt, and with fresh-tasting ingredients.

Dispatch is a little slow on the trigger there, eh?
The new location is huge, the service and food is still awesome, and it's entirely affordable. I don't want to say the space is too big, because hopefully they'll get the following to fill it up, but one advantage of the space is their ability to (easily and less awkwardly) accommodate larger groups, something many ethnic restaurants lack, unfortunately.
Might be a place to consider when looking for a place to dine with friends. It might be a coincidence (and pure luck) but I've been in twice with groups of 5+ (on a week night) and the owner delivered free hummus and taziki to the table. Win!
