Press Release:
MY MORNING JACKET PERFORMS WITH BAND OF HORSES AUGUST 12
OUTDOOR SHOW TO BENEFIT WEXNER CENTER & CD101 FOR THE KIDS; TICKETS ON SALE LATER THIS WEEK

May 3, 2012—In a special collaborative benefit concert, PromoWest Productions presents Louisville quintet My Morning Jacket with special guests Band of Horses at the LC Pavilion Outdoors, 405 Neil Ave. in the Arena District, Sunday, August 12. Doors open at 6 pm. A portion of the proceeds from this concert benefits both the Wexner Center for the Arts and CD101 for the Kids, which aids local children’s programs and is facilitated by local independent rock station CD 102.5 FM.
My Morning Jacket is revered for outstanding live shows with an improbable musical mix featuring honeyed, soulful Southern sounds, leftfield psych-pop, and falsetto-punctuated throw-down funk. Reviewing a recent concert, the Chicago Tribune called the group “one of the most formidable live rock acts of the last decade” and described its music as a “place where Southern rock and psychedelic surrealism happily co-exist.”
For this tour, MMJ teams up with Seattle’s Band of Horses, whose country-rock glow and warm harmonies provide a perfect complement for this outdoor show at the LC.
Scott Stienecker, president of PromoWest Productions, says, “PromoWest is very excited to be partnering with the Wexner Center for the Arts and CD 102.5. We’re looking to make this a great annual event.”
Randy Malloy, CD 102.5 general manager, notes, “We are excited to work with such a great organization as the Wexner Center for the Arts. They are known for bringing great cultural events to Columbus, and this combined effort among PromoWest Productions, the Wexner Center and ourselves for the My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses concert is just another example of a shared belief in promoting the music scene in Columbus.”
“We are grateful to My Morning Jacket for their interest and generosity in supporting this collaborative effort,” notes Chuck Helm, director of performing arts at the Wex, “and to our partners at PromoWest and CD 102.5 who have been terrific to work with. We look forward to this show and joining with these partners on future initiatives that will expand upon this model.”
Tickets are $39 in advance for all audiences or $43 day of show. Tickets go on sale Thursday (May 3) at 10 am to Wexner Center members, and those who receive GenWex and Next@Wex emails, as well as band fan clubs and CD 102.5 followers, who will be notified by email with a promotional code for purchasing tickets.
Public tickets go on sale Friday (May 4) at 10 am at http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0500489310D4DE17
This event is held in conjunction with the 200Columbus bicentennial celebrations, honoring the "creative spirit" of Columbus.
