My Idea for a bar -thoughts, and what are yours?

So I have been kicking this idea for a bar around for a few years but I wanted to know if it was completely stupid, or if it sounded fun, feel free to steal this idea and build it.

I'd call it "Pinbar"

It would have a 1:1 ratio of tables to Pinballl machines. Tables would be mixed in with pinball tables, so think about 1 or 2 tables, then a Pinball machines, then a table, then a machine and so on.

To encourage playing you receive 1 token for each drink you purchase, tokens can be purchased at 3 for a buck. Tables would be a mix of 1 or 2 tokens so everyone could play if they were having a drink.

High scores would be posted on a large score board, updated each morning, like a golf score board.
Thursday would be Tournament night, a camera mounted above the each table could project the play area on a large screen so everyone can watch the players while they hang out. 2 hour daily happy hour with 2 free tokens per drink.

Cocktails would be named after tables. You can win a free drink if you become the table champion.

So would anyone actually go to this bar?

I am curious to hear what other weird ideas people have for a bar.

I love the thought of a bar with old school games, like pinball, or even skiball.... I'm trying to imagine the noise level of so many pin machines in one space. It would be like the olden days at the casino. Ding ding ding!!

A bar like that isn't my bag, since it requires a certain amount of forced participation... but I could see some folks going for it, and loving it.

Remember the table-top video games? I wonder if anyone still has those. They were awesome.

It would be different, but a very niche market. I do not think you would need that many pinball machines, even dart bars have relatively few dart boards.

I think it’s a great idea honestly I am surprised it has not been done here yet.

I think Twixlen's idea of a bar w/ an old-school-game-theme might have more appeal than one that's specifically pinball. When we were in San Francisco, we visited the Musee Mechanique which had a lot of old mechanical games; I think a bar wrapped around something like this would be a pretty awesome idea.

Ravari Room has one of the new Pac-Man machines for 4 players, it is a LOT of fun, its just like the old table but updated graphics.

I think that's a great idea, and I would go! You could have $1 beer can specials like PBR, etc. I love pinball too! You'd have to keep the volumes down probably.

Uh oh, looks Steve Wiebe has the top score on Donkey Kong there, yet Billy Mitchell hasn't raced over to beat it. Give it time.

I'd open one of these if I had the money. Alas, bars can be a big drain on the finances if you're not well-funded.

I know I've suggested this a hundred times, but it still amazes me that with the long history of river travel in our area, no one has yet capitalized on the fact that those riverboaters liked drinking quite a bit. And that distilleries were often located on rivers and creeks.

Besides, if I'm walking around somewhere and happen to have a bottle of wine, I'm going to sit and drink it by the river.

There's a bar in Dayton with a similar concept: TONS of pinball machines, dart boards, and pool tables; plus ping pong, tabletop shuffleboard, and one of those mini bowling alley games. It's fun, but the place is kind of dark and depressing (plus, they illegally allow smoking, so you have to take a shower as soon as you get out of there). I think something like this succeed in Columbus if it was done well.

675 Bar in NYC is pretty cool. It reminds me of a cool basement. Lots of little "gaming" rooms with Connect Four, Checkers, Jenga plus some table top arcade games. Real swanky and cool. One of my favorite bars when in NYC.
