Microphone Workshop
Faculty: Ben Miller of Central City Recording

Age Recommendation: 15 years and up through adults
Microphone Workshop is an overview of microphones and their individual and specific applications. Learn about all types of microphones and their evolution over time. Each week, explore different micing techniques and listen to what each technique offers to the recording process. This workshop will also teach how to capture great sounds for acoustic and electric guitars, drums, vocals, violins and brass instruments.
Intro to ProTools
Faculty: Andrew Dodson of Central City Recording

Age Recommendation: 15 years and up through adult, basic computer skills required, Mac experience

Digidesign Pro Toolsâ„¢ is an industry-standard software utilized in all areas of music recording and production. Start at the beginning and learn about Pro Tools functionality, from recording and signal processing to editing and mixing. Students will learn to navigate the sea of menu selections, toolbars and graphic windows that create the Pro Tools environment.
Intro to GarageBand
Faculty: Maxwell Lewis of Central City Recording
Dates/Times: Tuesday, September 29 – November 3, 2009, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Age Recommendation: All ages welcome, basic keyboard and computer knowledge
GarageBand™ is Apple’s ™ program that introduces even the most novice musician or computer operator to the world of home recording and audio production. This fun, introductory course will demonstrate how to utilize multiple functions GarageBand™ offers, including basic recording and mixing options and effects, plug and play features and the program’s built-in instructional software for both the piano and guitar.
