BUSINESS FIRST OF COLUMBUS - BY Carrie Ghose

For a signal of the crossroads of health care and retail, look no further than the 21-foot-long aluminum toothbrush soon to appear in the Arena District, to be followed by a marquee crawl at Broad & High touting dentists upstairs.

Three dentists not long out of Ohio State University dental school each looked in the suburbs to start their practices before deciding to follow condominium dwellers downtown. Their chosen high-profile addresses were not random picks, but the product of precise plans based on retailing principles.

LOL, there are a lot of good dentists in this area not guided by Skilken-Pinnell HealthCare LLC. Downtown denistry is not an endangered species. I would go with experience over 'cachet'...

I was really saddened when my dentist moved from downtown to more burby area (kenny/ackerman) but then I changed jobs and my office is less than a mile away. I still think his old office was pretty swank.

I wish I could convince Dr. Roy Gottlieb to move downtown. That would kind of defeat the name Morse Road Family Dental though.

It's great that these service providers are setting up Downtown offices and recognizing the market there for what it's worth.

That being said, I'll probably stick with Capital City Dental on Thurman. Not the closest to home or work, but a great dentist. ;)

Dentistry may never be "cool and sexy," but we are running a "cool and sexy" Groupon today. For all of those who use the "dentistry is too expensive" excuse, check it out. We are centrally located and love being downtown. One day Walker, we'll get you switched over to Capstone.

Heh. Well, after getting a chance to tour your office, I will say that those floor-to-ceiling windows looking down four stories onto the hustle and bustle of High Street provide a "cool and sexy" view from the Dentist Chair. ;)
