I say YAY and am embarrassed that we are even having this debate. Hysteria is overcoming our most cherished core values. It is also severely damaging our already suspect credibility in the Middle East--a region we all agree is important. Let us stand behind the First Amendment instead of defending it. Let us be magnanimous and build good will around the globe.

I don't think so many people would have as much of a problem with it if we weren't hearing fox news every day. With time I think propoganda like this would be more accepted, 9/11 is still very fresh in fox minds, especially Rudy Gulianni's.
Are the people who masterminded 9/11 extremists? Absolutely. But right now the politicians are all over the news every single day and that's what political types are associating it with. Not saying it's right, but that's why I think there's so much ginned up backlash.Fixed that for ya.

So when I read on Yahoo today that 61 Iraqi soldiers were killed by suicide bomber, likely terrorists, I can replace the word terrorist with Fox News like you did? Guess reporting 61 people killed by terrorists is just right wing media bias reporting on something that not really a big deal.
And I suppose it's the GOP and Fox News that's pushing this imaginary war that's not really going on since you conveniently took that out of your "fix" as well.

This is slightly off topic. I have to ask you in regards with your post in regards to concern over U.S.sentiment in the Middle East. Would it be fair to ask countries like Saudi Arabia for a quid-pro-quo. I.E., we would be happy to zone land for more Saudi/UAE/Jordanian funded mosques, if we can build Churches and Synagouges in thier countries? Shouldn't tolerance be a two way street?

Do I think they have the right to build it there? Absolutely. Do I really care if they do or don't? Not really. Do I think it would do more harm than good? Yes. And that's the main reason I say Nay. It's not b/c I don't think Muslim's should have rights.
I would like to see something like a Multi Denominational Cultural Center that would focus on bringing awareness to all religions.
However, I certainly agree that they're well within their rights to build it. There's no arguing that.

It's decision to ban RIM devices just last week due to inability to monitor the communications of its citizenry confirms as much. Ditto. I initially said "Nay," as I found it a little in your face. BUT I really enjoy my freedom of religion, and so should they.
