I love the upscale Italian places in town, but sometimes I just want a local, casual eatery with red/white checked table cloths that serve a mean plate of pasta or pizza. Any suggestions???

TAT on Livingston makes their own pasta and "gravy". They have a surprisingly ok wine list, too!

Scali in Reynoldsburg! It's family owned and operated and I always get whatever Papa Scali's ravioli of the day happens to be. Good stuff.

If you want to go to the 'burbs check out Butch's on Gender and there is another great Italian place in the Strip mall on the west end/Reynoldsburg stretch of 256.
Rubino's in Bexley would work too. Pizza joint, but they have Spaghetti.

Definitely another +1 for Carfagna's Kitchen up on Polaris. My Italian grandparents used to take me to Carfagna's market all the time growing up and I was VERY happy to see the restaurant open up. So good.
Another place up on the North side we had alot growing up was Bruno's Pizza & Restaurant. It's not at ALL fancy, but fits the description you're going for.

It's been a long time, but the food is good. I grew up just down the street and that was always a monthly thing.

I haven't tried TAT or Carfagna's yet. However, this thread inspired me to make some spaghetti sauce this evening! I think I'll put some ribs and sausage in there too.

it is. i was just throwing it out there. there's a place I've always heard really great things about, but never have been. its on High street north of Graceland Shopping Center. i'll try to get the name if no one else knows it.
I haven't eaten much Italian food in Columbus. The place I always go to that has an old Italian woman cooking in the kitchen is at my parents house. ;)
