I think the story has over 300,000 page views on Reddit.
we all have to stand up and let retards know, we will NOT turn our heads and walk away, we WILL call you out.
Two steps forward, one step back...

maybe just maybe if people were quicker to jump and help someone being attacked verbally or physically, people would learn how to treat people at least in public! we all have to stand up and let retards know, we will NOT turn our heads and walk away, we WILL call you out.
So many facepalms in this thread. Come on people let's let happiness have its day. This story just plain rules.

lmao. stupid asperger having midgets!
As I pedaled the path thru the field between Wood Hayes and North Star, moonlight danced with the ghosts of corn stalks. It was a morality play with sparkly choreography and the music of wintry silence.
It told a story of spiritual love, of how we should disparage neither queer folk nor midgets nor those with Aspergers. It’s celebrated hero was a queer midget with Aspergers who came to life in my cycling shadow as it leaned and stretched on the snow.

The biking part sounds a lot like Angelo's inspiration for Barley's Blurry Bike IPAas he was riding home one cold Winter day in the snow.
You've got to wonder if the perpetrators from the original story have heard of this by now, and if they are contemplating mending their ways, so that they may partake of their share of delicious slut sauce.

How Seinfeldian that sounds! Whoever is producing their shirts (Skreened, ThoughtCo?) will be busy for a while as shirts are being scooped up from different corners of the States.

Back at you, TO. As a home gardener, you would appreciate the Rogue Farms blog, as in Rogue brewery. They grow their own hops, pumpkins and much more to make their beer. http://roguefarmsblog.wordpress.com/
Not to digress too much, what are your thoughts on this incident that's gone viral, and had restored some people's faith in humanity?

Zachary will be selling these tees tonight (preorder only) next to Mickey's Late Night Slice outside Woodland's Tavern! Thanks for posting, groundrules.

Yes, i visited the website, but will not be purchasing one as their XXL is not likely to do the job on my XXXLT body.

Patient_Zero, thanks for asking for my opinion. I think this is generally good. I relate when people talk about how much more supportive some parts of some societies have become toward queer folk. Things were quite different when I was a young adult in the late 80's and early 90's. So, progress seems to have been made.
But persecution of queer folk exists in many parts of the world such as Uganda and Iran to name but a few. Here in the US, there is obviously generally more tolerance, if not acceptance.
However, right-wing extremism seems a real risk. I say that, because as of yet, there seem no viable grassroots movement of ordinary folk fighting back against the continued concentration of political and economic power as big government(the bogey man of the right) merges with big corporate power (the bogey man of the left)
Since you asked for my opinion, a right-wing takeover (whereby there is a more blatant and brutal fusing of governmental and corporate power) would more or less be what some folk refer to as 'fascism.'
As writer Kevin Phillips suggests, fascism in the US is likely to be theocratic. A component of that might involve mobilization of religious conservatives inclined toward making scapegoats of queer folk, along with Muslims as well as pushing for a general infringement on the rights of women.
Speculation ? Sure, but I suggest it's based on historical analysis and social science whereby we get a sense of what's probable (not merely what's possible)according trends and other patterns.
But I don't intend to be crippled with fear and indulge in morbid forms of escapism regarding a dystopic future. Instead, I try to use my sense of the risk of right wing extremism as a basis for helping to build grass roots alliances of ordinary folk working on undoing the concentration of political and economic power. That project mixes well with helping out with addressing our ecological problems.
Well, you asked. So there it is. Thanks again. Ur gardening and brewing work sounds appealing.

Is it overly-idealistic for me to say that this situation would have been even better had the LNS employee and the customers stood up for Ethan and his companion while also inviting the homophobe to "join our community of love" ?
It's not always easy to do, but I suggest we strive to call out and correct particular undesirable behaviors, as opposed to denouncing the person and writing them off as a bad human being.
We regard the homophobe as doing something wrong in that situation, but we over-simplify things if we demonize him. Thru that over-simplification, we overlook our own faults in terms of "man's inhumanity to man." I suggest that with spiritual love we more readily bear in mind there is good and bad in everyone.
I suggest this approach would have fostered greater understanding. Demonizing the homophobe might add to the already existing alienation between socially liberal (largely urban and suburban ?) people who tolerate if not accept queer folk and the socially conservative people (largely rural?) who don't.

Calls to mind how queerness may be part of an ongoing process of human evolution. Recently, I sat all night under a bridge listening to melting ice. The thousand or so echoing drops of water amounted to foretelling societies where people are predominately vegan and bisexual.Someone who read the TV or watched a newspaper told me the forecast calls for cold this week. But when the ice melts, break your routine for several hours and listen to what the drips are telling you.
Set aside whatever priorities you may have and follow me, as u aspire to be a member of the (r)evolutionary vanguard I'm leading.
