Just ate there last week. Had a double burger with fries and slaw. It was decent food nothing out of the norm..Very seedy crowd in there and a bit seedy service. Does anyone else have any Michael's Goodie boy stories?

Well, it really must be seedy if they're serving their double burgers with a side of "friends". :D
(Ack, you edited it! now my joke doesn't make any sense :( )

Yeah I almost passed out walking past the bathroom on my way to Surly Girl last night.
It is a pretty good greasy spoon joint. I ate there alot when I lived on Mt. Pleasant in the 90's.

I wont go back after last time. There was a woman in a wheel chair that wanted to come in and the cook (Russian Guy) was yelling at her to not because she would not fit through the door and she would scratch the walls. This argument went on for about 15 mins while I wished he was cooking my food. ALSO.. during this time some scummy looking guy who smelled like he rolled in shit was trying to tell me why him and his wife had split and how she took all his money. It's like walking into the freak show tent at the circus. Normally I find that stuff interesting and entertaining, but not when i just want some damn toast and eggs!

Hi, I'm the Americans with Disabilities Act, and I would like to hand your business a heavy financial penalty.

My favorite Goody Boy moment was years ago when we went in there the day the SS checks came in. The place was packed and fully 75% of the people had oxygen tanks. Surreal.
Our office is nearby and I used to take new people up for lunch as an initation to the neighborhood. The food is pretty much straight off the Sysco truck. It can be fun though, but I'd rather go to Surly Girl, Press Grille or 7.

guess the russians that cook in greasy spoon joints don't read up on that Act heh. They also had to pick her up to even get to the door because there is no ramp.

I've eaten there mostly for breakfast when I'm too hung over to function well enough to walk any further. It works great in that capacity, but yes, it's not your typical dining experience. John is a character and almost always has a few good stories for us while he's cooking our eggs. Sometimes we place bets walking up if this will be the day we walk in on a Russian Mafia gathering.

when i worked across the street at magnolia i ate there all the time.
now not so much, plus i know several people who have worked there and had to quit because the owner is a pervy pig who comes on to all his servers.

This has been an interesting thread... I've always wondered about that place.
Not sure if this'll keep me away or get me there!

Greasy spoon, oxygen tanks, smokering patio...
Now I fully expect one day to step outside our place in Harrison West and see this sight over the treetops

I'm just a complete sucker for greasy, dirty, diner/home cooking type joints. I can often be found at Shades, Dan's, Goodie Boy, and actually was one of the like 9 people who ate at Roadhouse Annies a lot.

Greasy and dirty don't bother me as much the fact that the food at most of these places is right off the Sysco/GFS truck. Go through the catalogues of these places sometimes and you will be amazed at the amount of 'home' cooking items are there.
There are exceptions and some places will have a couple things they do themselves, but no amount of grill 'seasoning' makes up for pre-sliced, par-boiled, seasoned and frozen spuds called "homestyle" potatoes or hash browns.

Oh, make no mistake, Shade's is definitely "home cooked" style food that's really home cooked. Wouldn't swear by the rest, but I'll definitely stick by Shade's. Roadhouse Annie's, I'd be pretty sure wasn't as well (mostly because of the off the charts inconsistency in the same dish from one visit to the next LOL).

Have to try Shade's.
Wasn't Roadhouse Annies previously known as something like Tollhouse? I was in there once as RA, but a bunch as whatever it was before.

Not sure, but the thing that always astonished me about RA was the fact the menu was like 15-20 pages long LOL!!!

What I remember most about Roadhouse Annie's was that everything had like 2-3 inches of greasy dust phantoms fluffed all over it. It was kind of awesome. My friend told me he went up on top of the roof of the buiding with someone who lived there, and there was a dead alligator in a swimming pool. Unsubstantiated, yes, but kind of too random to seem made up.

Has anyone been by here lately? They have new patio furniture and a new soundtrack playing....new owners? I've been afraid to set foot in there after the Skully's door man said he has never seen anyone but homeless people eat there. but that was 2 years ago.

Did Michael's close? I went this morning around 10 for some breakfast and it was dark, no sign of anyone around, no hours posted, and the all the Detroit Red Wings stuff on the walls was gone.
Anyone have any news? I would really hate to see them close down, and I figured with The Jackson nearing completion they'd have more business than ever soon enough.

Did Michael's close?I was wondering this as well, as the few times I've driven by there was no visible activity.
They were closed for three days by order of the Department of Health in September, then placed on continued monitoring in to January.
Beyond this slap on the wrist, I haven't heard anything.
