In full disclosure, some close friends of mine are involved in this show. But it's really going to be great. It's a musical about contemporary life, not wicked witch fantasies or princess-ogre fairy tales. It should appeal especially to those of us whose youthful idealism and artistic principles have been compromised as we get older.

For its first musical, Available Light Theatre is presenting one of the most challenging but least familiar Stephen Sondheim works. The troupe will launch its fourth season with Merrily We Roll Along, opening tonight in the Riffe Center's Studio One Theatre."Growing up, we're told we can be anything we want - but you can't be everything you want," director John Dranschak said. "This musical is about how the choices we make in life can take us far off the path we envision for ourselves."
